The “201” is likely to be the true T score of the last affiliated student posted. No reason for them to fake a 201. But maybe the school took in ~99:1 affiliated:non-affiliated ratio.
I think it’s more like none of their affiliated student score a zhun-zhun 200 points. Given that they could in quite a wide range of non-affiliated students, highly doubt that they are close to the cap.

From what I recall of the FMSS Principal’s briefing, I’m not sure whether it is way above the limit for Express Stream - can call the office to check. FMSS takes in quite a number of DSA students who are not from FMSP.

NA stream is over the 80% limit for sure.

These could possibly be the schools that will see their affiliated COP move upwards. Or at least I hope to see the real, actual COP (T score of the last, 80% affiliated student posted) published by MOE.

200 CHIJ St Joseph’s Convent

188 St Anthony’s Canossian Secondary
188 St Hilda’s Secondary
Taken from MOE School Finder for some schools:
Affiliated/ Non-Affiliated
CHIJ SJC - 200 to 241 / 237 to 249
FMSS - 200 to 257 / 242 to 249 (note: non-affiliated NA - none posted)
KCPSS - 200 to 241 / 236 to 249
MSS - 188 to 221 / 188 to 235

FMSS is definitely way above the 80% limit.
Floppy, enlighten me please. How are u deducing that the affiliated:non-affiliated students in MSS, KCPPS and SJC are less than 80:20? Are u looking at the spread of T scores of the non-affiliates? And deducing that a wide range of non-affiliates were posted?

What if, example only, SJC took in only TWO non-affiliates, one had 237 and one had 249?

But another method, I think, is to look at absolute numbers. That means looking at the number of sec 1 students, take 80%, and then see the primary school cohorts. And start estimating from there.

Hihi! Can i clarify…the 20percent reserved for non-affiliated students, does it include NA,NT with Express? Or only 20percent of Express stream?

So far, from what i read, this is not clearly stated,or i may have missed something/misinterpreted in my readings:)
My next psle kid in 2 yr time does not have affiliation…checking for my niece in FMPS…
Thanks in advance…

I don’t think MOE looks at it on a stream-by-stream basis (which in any case, would be irrelevant once the SBB comes into play). It makes more sense to be on a per cohort basis.

DSA has a limit of 20% of their cohort size for non-IP schools.

A couple of deductions:
1. Mid-high or high scorers (> 240) prefers other schools (~ 15% to 20% of the affiliated pupils not heading there)
2. Wide range of non-affiliated students are posted (as you said)

Is it possible that only 2 students are posted? Yes but “reasonableness” means more likely that there’s a spread of students within those limits. The lower end of that limit (230s) are also where there would be quite a high number of ‘qualifiers’ (compared to FMSS 240s which would be quite restrictive).

20% cap is for each course.

See screenshot of ACSJ P6 parent briefing slides. Which is available to public on their website, nothing secret.

Hi cool_hi,

It is based on \"Per stream\".
Each stream will set aside, reserve 20 percent of seats, for external students

So, is

- 20 percent of OP (O-level Program or Express stream),

- 20 percent of NA (Normal Academic stream),

- 20 percent of NT (Normal Technical stream)

You can find out, in that Secondary school that your niece is interested in, for this year (2019), that school open

- how many Sec 1 OP classes,
- how many Sec 1 NA classes,
- how many Sec 1 NT classes ?

Assume Mainstream Sec 1 around 40 students, per class

take (40 x number of classes, per stream) = Total number of Sec 1 students, per stream

Then, take 0.2 x this Total number, will give u an idea roughly, how many seats are allocated to Non-affliated pupils (outside, external students from other schools)

20 percent is 0.2

==================

For Secondary schools that have NA and NT stream, what happen is,
after EOY Sec 1 exam, if Normal stream students perform well academically, schools will have their own internal, selection, Promotional criteria,

- to promote certain Sec 1 students from NA stream, into OP stream,

and

- to promote certain Sec 1 students from NT stream, into NA stream

For this, need to check with the individual Secondary school, what kind of \"Promotional \" internal criteria they have.

At least, this is how it works, until the \"G1 / G2 / G3 \" kick in (implementation)

EOY : End-of-the-year
