Among friends of my generation, we will talk about the old days and how we used to things with flair and a personal touch. For example, we used charcoal to cook because we know they make the food taste and smell better. The young people today are not impressed. They want things done the easiest and fastest way!

No one can deny that technology has enabled us to do things more quickly and efficiently. Most of us can name the benefits of digital technology and other mechanical contraptions. But what are some of the things that had to be sacrificed along the way? One thing I can think of is the art of communication -- both written and spoken. My father, and many people I know from his generation, used to have such beautiful handwriting. During my school days, my own handwriting used to be decent. But after all these years working on the word-processor I, too, seem to have lost it. Writing with the pen is no longer something that is comfortable and natural as it used to be. And I notice people nowadays are speaking the way they write -- in codified language! 🤷

Did anyone watch Star Trek Insurrection? Not a good movie, but an interesting premise: a species has advanced technology, but reject its use to live simpler lives.

I think it's great. And technologies changed our lives in many fields. For example, new type of https://www.glassstructureslimited.com/glass-extensions/ changed the glass industry at all. And the whole look of modern windows is awesome. And it's such a small example.

So many pros and cons to consider. Because of technology, many people lost their jobs. But when it comes to comfort, technology has given much comfort to our daily lives too. Still we can’t tell if it’s that good or bad. I think it’s how you adapt to it.

You promised the world and I fell for it

I put you first and you adored it
You set fires to my forest
                    And you let it burn
Sang off key in my chorus
                    Cause it wasn’t yours
I saw the signs and I ignored it
                    Rose colored glasses all distorted
You set fire to my purpose
                    And I let it burn
You got off on the hurtin’
                    When it wasn’t yours
We’d always go into it blindly
I needed to lose you to find me
This dancing was killing me softly
I needed to hate you to love me

New technologies sits between the line of good and bad. I’d say it’s more dependent on the user and what the particular technology is used for. We all know technology can be a convenience and an inconvenience at the same time, depending on how we look at it.
