Hello Hi! At least your kiddo revises intensively!! My Year3 insists on managing his studies in his own way - so when there is additional workload (like, special programmes...), something else which no longer sparks joy will just have to be sacrificed. Mine even has a knack for bulldozing through work, so can still afford plenty of leisure. Jiayou peasants!!

My girl is also taking RSP.. With this, she will be taking 10 subjects next year, sort of worried about the workload. But she likes the program and wants to continue. Have been discussing with her on the subject combinations next year, she insisted in taking 2 humanities.. omg.. Additional to acad workload, she still has her leadership roles in school.. Really hope she can manage them..

Mine took special program plus the usual triple science combi, competitive CCA, etc. I think the good thing about RGS here is that they only count GPA for 6 subjects. If she is good in math and science, that takes care of 3 out of 6 subjects already (1 math, 1 science and 1 math/science). If she is good in languages and humanities, that should also take care of 3 subjects too (EL, 1 + 1 humanities/special program). So she can focus on the remaining 3 subjects to maintain/pull up GPA?

Maybe it is the COVID-19 disruptions and the teachers were less stringent (?), I didn't see a jump in workload for my dd from S2 to S3 (her GPA even improved). I think most girls should be able to cope reasonably well

BTW, somehow among their friends, they will not ask for each other's results. One girl in the chat group is known to have consistently good results since primary school, but she hated to be used as a benchmark. Maybe just expect the worst, and hope for the best.

My daughter told me that too. For those who are weaker, they don't like it to be known. For those who are stronger, they don't like to seem boastful. Only those who are very close friends will share their results. So it's good that the school does disclose the median mark to give students (and their parents) an idea of where they stand.

Ah, she is strong in her humanities! The Lit Teachers my dd encountered in RGS have been awesome. If your girl enjoys lit, she will do well in it.

Yeah, HMT is the Achilles’ heel for a lot of the girls. But I heard usually 60+% of the girls get distinction for their HCL O level exam, so I guess with hard work from the girls and the Teachers, they will be fine in the end.

The median is given only by subjects. I think it'll be helpful to know the median for the GPA too....

I think it's not too difficult to guess the median GPA based on subjects median...

Agree with @slmkhoo's take on median. Good enough or not depends on your personal targets and aspirations. Median should be good enough if one is not targeting medicine or law or scholarships...

@lakesidemum, it is common for HMT to drag down overall GPA, with very few exceptional girls who is also very strong in their HMT, so don't worry too much. DD1's HMT is typically a few points below median, yet she managed to score distinctions in O level.

Just curious, anyone has any idea what RI’s median for most subjects are? I heard they aren’t as high… wonder if RGS set the paper too ‘‘easy’’ for the girls hence the high median?

Last year 2020,

for IP4 students in both (RI and RGS) -

do IP4 students take the same, common identical exam,

- at IP4 mid year exam and

- at IP4 year end Promotional exam

In below following 6 subjects :-

- English

- Maths

- Pure Physics

- Pure Chem

- Pure Bio

- Higher Chinese,

so as to \"standardize \" marking of their IP4 students' exan scripts on a common ground basis , to choose their IP5 (RI) subject combination ?
