Previously, teacher did check on the students occasionally but not sure about now. My younger one never got checked but elder one did. Guess can still buy it when school starts. Just tell teacher didn't manage to buy the socks if checked. It's covid time so not all will be able to get everything before school starts. ; )
Thanks! -
“Considering School end time” could mean if start school 1 hour later would mean end school 1 hour later too. And reach home, take dinner, do homework and sleep 1 hour later. That still may not achieve the objective of more sleeping time as a result.
Same point mentioned above:cutting down on playing on digital devices could increase sleeping hours.
Someone did ask the ex principal before this question: such long day for the students, how could they cope? Ex principle answer: many batches of students have gone through such routine without any issue.
>> Many batches of students have suffered this kind of pain. It's time to change. -

Ask students how they manage their time on Thursday. Will they sleep later on Thursday?
Lessons start at 8am (Mon - Wed, Fri) and 8.30am (Thurs). But students have to be in school half an hr earlier for flag raising and self reading.
While starting school at a later time may mean students can wake up later, it also means they go home later and finish hw later and sleep later.
School can start at 8:30 on Thursday, then they can do the same every day. -

Hi, perhaps from a bigger picture taking into considerations various students’ interests/ commitments etcetera… my secondary school kid started school at ~0730, ended at ~1430; he had no time for a proper lunch so had to take a heavier recess, rushed to moelc for his 3rd language lessons, made it in time at ~1530 with class ending at ~1845, reaching home at ~2015 for his first proper meal of the day. On CCA days (3x a week training at external arenas), it’s the same ~0730-1830. I wouldn’t want his school to start later than 0730 in the mornings -

No, students must arrive at the school before 7:30am from Monday to Wednesday and Friday, only Thursday can be 8:30am.
Seriously, I admire your tenacity
I thought someone said that CCHM is already starting at 8am? I think schools starting at 8:30am might be problematic for parents who fetches their kids to school, but who has to be in the office by 8am.
I hope the school can postpone the start time to 8:00am so that our children can have a little more sleep time. -

How many kids are like this? Is it every day or only one day? How did he do it on Thursday?

Start of school at 8:00am (only 30 minutes later) will make a big difference. -

I believe the school will have its own set of problems too, if everyday start 830. I think 1 day per week start late is what the school can do now, and not daily.

The school need time to cover curriculums and CCAs. If reduce further school hours, it may allow more sleeps, but affect other areas, like our child’s learning and developments. It may not be easy to cater to all students’ needs.
Each child has their own after school commitments/sleep requirements etc. probably you have your own considerations/difficulties in this area too. I hope you can find a solution to your considerations. -

First of all, my suggestion is 8:00, if not 8:30 every day.

Secondly, starting late does not mean reducing school hours.
We must always put the health of students first, not the other. -

Would you like to share any specific health issue you hope to address for your child case, by having later school start time? Maybe other parents can suggest alternate solution.

CCHM has longer school hours as compared to a normal non-SAP secondary school. That’s because they cover additional lessons on appreciation of Chinese culture and elementary Malay language which are compulsory for all lower secondary school students. I don’t think it is possible for the school to start lessons at 0830hrs everyday, esp if there are other activities like CCA, electives to consider. Once a week is fine. But hey, I think CCHM is not the only school which starts at 0800hr. Many other schools start around the same time too
