If the school is indeed building a new complex for P1 & 2s, then what is the reason for cutting another class this year ?
There's really no more space in the sch's compound to house a new building, unless they get rid of the field. But this will be very sad for kids who like to play football. It's just not practical, imo. -

Removing the field is not a solution. I guess Pei Hwa is facing the same situation as South View. Capacity is bursting at the seams.janet_lee88:

If there is going to be a new complex, I wonder if there will be more classes for the benefit of those going to register in the future. -

Don't scare me leh. I was contemplating whether can squeeze another slot for ds to take taekwondo lessons during weekends, but in the end decided not to. But after hearing you, must re-consider
No need taekwondo, just watch Ip Man and those fighting shows.
My P3 boy recently got into two fights- in sch hall (cos some classmates teased him) and on sch bus (a boy poked him with a sharp object and caused some bleeding on his thigh).
I hv banned all fighting shows (even cartoons) :x
Btw my P3 boy is only 1.25cm tall and weighs 22kg. But his fist can be painful (according to my elder boy). -

Just to share my thoughts.janet_lee88:

This year, PH has cut down by 1 class of 30pax. To be able to achieve single session, aside from building extra compound, the other way is to cut down classes as years goes. Which will takes a few more years to achieve to single session. -
2016 is the cut off for schools to go single-session.
Pei Hwa is a co-ed school. Cutting more classes will get more painful. Imagine there are already many condo projects within 1km, cutting will lead to less vacancies but many applicants.
Bukit Timah is the only other school here with 180 places. I’m not surprised the school will keep cutting classes until 2016. Didn’t realize Princess Elizabeth and Keming have just 210 places. -

Ya. agree with you. I believe, PH will continue to cut down classes. Most single sessions school are averagely within 180 to 270 vacancies. (Which also depends on the space availability)2016 is the cut off for schools to go single-session.

Which will also means balloting will be every year for both 2B and 2C within 1km.
This is going to be really sad and disappointment for many parents. Infact, this will not only happen to PH but to many other popular schools as well.
Looking at the whole stretch of Bt Timah, dunearn rd, Orchard, Newton, Novena area... everywhere is bursting out with new properties but the number of schools still remains unchanged.

Your ds got to be underweight, cos my ds is k2 and also 22kg. And pils are already giving me pressure as they considered him skinny for his age.No need taekwondo, just watch Ip Man and those fighting shows.

Boys will be boys. My ds fights with his best friend everyday. But it's not the ip man kind of fight. It's more of pushing and hugging each other kind of fight. -
Wow this forum sure is very active

Yah E3 your girl is very automatic as what blurqueen says.. will try cracking our brains to instill this habit into her. Appreciate if anyone can share experience on how to achieve this too.
Regarding school bag, my kid has never truly carried a school bag yet. Her bag from Nursery till K2 has never carried anything more than a towel, an extra set of uniform, & a water bottle... looks like we'll have to slowly add load to her bag & get her used to it soon. -
2bbtang,
The schools along the stretch of Bukit Timah face balloting for those staying 1km, even RPGS which has never been so (from what was mentioned).
Nanyang/MGS/RGPS has the the same number of classes for P1, but Pei Hwa has cut another class this year. Even this didn’t happen, I believe those staying 1-2km will have a chance to ballot. Pei Hwa didn’t expect MOE to move to single-session, or else it would have built another 1-2 storeys higher 6 years ago. -

janet,
The buildings are already 6 storeys high. Any higher and all the female students will have elephant thighs :!: . We don't want that do we?
