It's not stated how long, but I don't think there is any minimum becos 2A2 is open to all old students (who didn't join alumni presumably).

For this year's registration, it's stated in MOE's website:

Phase 2A1
For a child whose parent is a former student of the school and who has joined the alumni association as a member not later than 30 Jun 2009

So you must have joined the alumni for more than a year before

do go to your school's Parent Networking Group and introduce yourself and start to establish contacts with other parents whose kids are going to the same school. This would be very handy in the next 6 years.

as for making exception if there’s 1 or 2 applicants than the no. of vacancies, if 1 sch starts it (unless in the case of twins, triplets), then others might start saying "only 3 more", then "only 4 more", then "only x more" then will be no ending, right?

hahaha… ur case is 148 balloting for 185 plcs, my case is 157 balloting for 114 plcs, worse.
