2010 P1 Registration Exercise for 2011 In-Take
-
Sorry if my question is not clear.. I m also puzzled when my friend told me that no balloting will be required if there is a pair of twins who are registered for P1, which means the school will take in all the students.
She explained that as they are twins, no one would be able to predict that during the balloting exercise, both of their names will be drawn. In case if only 1 of the twins' names are drawn, and then the other didn't, this might cause the twins to \"spilt\". I m uncertain so I m asking.qms:
Don't quite understand your question. :scratchhead:i3mum:
I m just being curious: My friend told me that if balloting is required during the school registration, and it happened that there is a pair of twins, balloting will be cancelled? Is it true? Will MOE accept all of those who have registered?
Why should balloting be cancelled when there is a pair of twins? :scratchhead: -

If there is a pair of twins in the balloting, one gets in, the other also gets in.Sorry if my question is not clear.. My son's school had balloting last year. There were two pairs of twins. In the end, one pair of twins got balloted in.
So, not true that there will be no balloting if there are twins.
The situation is this. If a school has 60 vacancies, and one of the twins get balloted in at the 30th place, the 31st place goes to the other twin. Hence, there will be one place less for other parents.
However, if the school has 60 vacancies, and one of the twins was picked at the 60th place, the school needs to create another vacancy for the twin, even though the school only has 60 places initially. -

ok, never been through this, but my take is that during balloting, if the last place drawn is the name of twins, both will get in - as with all those whose names were drawn earlier. There won't be a re-draw.
For multiple births, I understand from MOE site that parents can choose to list all the names on one ballot slip. If get, all are in the school (even if it means bursting the vacancy available). If don't get, all are out. Alternatively, parents can choose to list the names of their twins/triplets SEPARATELY; in this case, only the name drawn will be in the school - too bad for the other twin whose name wasn't drawn.
For the above case listed, there may not be balloting if the number exceed by 1 or 2 and there are twins involved. Certainly if demand exceed supply by 10/20, I'm sure balloting will have to be done, even if all are sets of twins. -
Hi hquek,
Thanks for clarifying. I m also wondering how can there be no balloting if the total no of people who registered exceed the no.of vacncies by 100? I guess my friend got the information wrongly. Now I got a better idea!
Thanks!

Extracted from Queenstown Primary School Thread..
I thought many involved in the balloting on Friday might like to have the below info on (2 slip/4 slip) balloting involving twins.
The only thing is I just wonder if this rule applies across the board or just in that particular school.. you might want to check with your school..Poohbear:
:thankyou: again for sharing the info Poohbear.I was standing at the school for quite a while before i register since I couldnt really make up my mind... so took the chance to find out more from the staff
From what i understand from the staff,
Single ID for twins means they are given 2 slips for a pair of twins. So 1 in, both in. If they had opt for an ID each for the twins, they would get 2 ID and 4 slips. But if 2 IDs, 1 in doesnt auto qualify the other to be in. So i guess both parents wanted to get the twins in same school.
If the 55th position goes to a pair of twins, then school has to open up 1 more place to make it 56 places. Else, its 55 places only
Also, there are only 5 PRs in the group that is going for balloting. So its essentially a citizen vs citizen fight...
psst... mods, if you think this should be in the Balloting History Thread, please kindly move it.. TIA

Just wondering example Nan Chiau Primary have 204 applying for 65 seats. Singaporean have 2 balloting chances, which means have to put in one by one calling out each individual students names total of 408 times. Then start balloting one by one till 65 numbers called. Am I right? :?why parents staying within 1 km, dont consider requesting/appealing to school tmw not to ballot and accept all students provided registration no, exceed not more than 16 students
so each class probably to have 2 additional chairs.
children or the kids are being deprived of a place despite staying nearby. sigh ...
Best of luck.
