Travel: Australia - Perth
-
Am also planning a short trip there. wondering if there are any places to pick strawberries or other types of fruit within 1-2 hours drive of Perth?
Also for those planning to travel with kids who need child seats, a friend was advising me to bring your own cos it can be as expensive to rent a child seat as it is to buy a new one. -
If you are bringing in milk powder or foodstuff for your kids, please remember to declare them at the customs. Make sure that all milk powder /dairy products are in sealed cans and none of the foodstuff contain seeds. They are very very particular about it and will not hesitate to throw away any suspicious looking food items or opened tins of milk powder.

I think renting an apartment is good… cos if you buy food to cook, it’s lots cheaper than eating out. And if you buy their local fruits n food, it’s really fresh n cheap!!
We took the campervan in Feb, and bought food from Coles… we had BBQ n fresh salads etc… n bought fruits from fremantle markets… we ate out only 1 meal on most days… I miss Perth!!! -

Most of the time we took a train down to town, sometimes buy food from supermarket to cook. Fremantle is nice, but market open only on Sundays. Very relaxed holiday...beginning of winter then.
No need to eat out all the time, nor bring so many clothes as there is washing machine/dryer. -

yes, they are very strict. I saw the customs officer tore away the rice paper of a rice paper lamp that a couple declared at the customs ! :!:If you are bringing in milk powder or foodstuff for your kids, please remember to declare them at the customs. For my case, they threw away my small packet of rice that I brought to cook porridge for DS. They said that it's not sealed (aka brand new). Anyway, we bought a 500g packet in the Aussie supermarket after that. -
Harlo, I will be bringing my 23 mth old gal to Perth in Nov. Is there any thing that I should take special notice during the trip or I should bring for the holiday?
Thanks! -
I will suggest that u make arrangements for a car seat if u intend to drive. The laws regarding this is rather strict in Aus.

Or bring your own.
I brought my child car seat to Australia for our self drive holidays there. -
I’m wondering whether to bring my kid’s car seat too.
some people told me that it can be as expensive to rent a car seat there, as buying a car seat!
but I’ll only be there for 5 days and the car rental websites say that it’s only $8,50 aussie per day to rent, so I’m wondering whether I should just rent. maybe there are taxes that exceed the seat rental?? anyone has experience in renting and can advise? thanks! -
IIRC, the law there requires car seat to be certified under their regulations. If you bring your own and do not meet their requirement, will still get caught.
