Forget it lah…my parents and friends will be so awkward having to face hubby’s unfriendly parents. They think it’s their son’s house and can boss over everything (when actually they have NEVER contributed to anything in my house).

I never had any birthday parties for my kids held at my own place. This way, it avoids the situation of not inviting his side.

Why don't you have 2 parties instead ? One with your parents/friends/siblings and another day with his parents. This way, I can honestly tell you that your family will enjoy better.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will discuss with DH again.

Hold one at home for your parents/siblings/friends. Another one at his parents' place. Buy a cake there.

I'm thinking of holding it outside with my parents/siblings/friends but don't have any idea on the venue yet. Don't want to over spend too

My fellow Octomum with similar problems, I totally empathize 😞

Ya duriz, I have told my DH my concerns but DH scared that his family will find out that we didn't celebrate with them. Well....I think the only person that cares is his mother. His father and sisters never show care, love and concern on my DD.

 then just call her mother lah 😉[/quote]Mrs Ang,
Yah, I think you just invite lah. At least when your DD looks back, she will still see the fotos that these people are there because her mum is still bothers to invite them for a 'complete' pic. At the very least, your MIL still cares for her mah...

Another way of viewing at things - at least your PIL are the people who gave you your DH... so invite them lah. If they chose not to come, at least you 问心无愧!

Thanks....My family have already brought presents for my DD so celebration with my family is confirmed ON 😉 For my DH family, I believe mil will juz give a $20 red packet if she remember. Mil has only brought one gold necklace on DD full mth birthday. The necklace is from a pawn shop which I'm not sure is it new or old.

Yes, my mil care for DD in a certain percentage only. DD is her first and only grandchild till now but she view herself more impt. Unlike other mils that I heard who will take care of their grandchildren no matter what. My mil just throw the ball back to me at the very last min and still trying to continue this game.
