      hey...anyone consider the distances?

cedar girls' is not near vjc
and scgs is not near catholic high/st nicholas - so where are they going to build the jc?
with mrt circle line, the distance problem is kind of solved. actually very convenient.

moe can find some land to build new JC one la. no need worry.

You all keep talking about CHS...

Now they have two girl friends...can yaya liao if they see SJI boys.

Everybody has one girl friend, CHS has two....SJI zero girl friend, so loogi and malu. maintain what tradition? MOE can easily nudge them into accepting scgs by using this psycholical tactic.

. Pls be more respectful wif ur words. I am an old sji boy and maintaining traditions have got nothing to do with gf. Besides, getting involved in bgr relationships at their age is impractical and unwise, if you are a sensible parent, you would not post such remarks. Besides, coming from ur viewpoint, sji boys are much more cultured and presentable as compared to CH boys. It has been recently announced that wadeva u say online can be used against you legally in court.

sji boys liddat one ah? :?

Like what someone else mentioned earlier on, we are all matured enough to know what is a joke, no need to threaten to take people to court.

My hubby is a old boy of SJI, when i told him about the joke about CHS having 2 gfs and SJI having none, he had such a good laugh and said, nevermind, we are such great guys that we can have gfs out of school. If possible I will like to send my sons to SJI but I hope they don't take everything so literally and have a sense of humour.

This is certainly a strange arrangement. But to me is not so much of the culture or religion aspects since Singapore is a multiracial, multi-religious country. The thing that I am more concern is whether it will be a homogeneous group with similar standard.
Correct me if my info is wrong. The COP for affiliated students to get into CHS and St Nick is around 230-235 each year whereas SCGS is 200. There is a 30 to 35 points different. Unless they adjust the COP to be around the same, otherwise it could be quite difficult for them to achieve similar standard in year 5.
Here is the list of COPs for SCGS, St Nicholas and Catholic HIgh, both non-affiliated and affiliated, for PSLE 2009:

The non-affiliated COPs for 2009 are:
              School Lower Higher Mean Median
              SCGS 251 268 254 254
              Catholic High 248 262 252 252
              St Nicholas 247 266 252 252

The Affiliated COPs for 2009 are:
              School Lower Higher Mean Median
              SCGS 201 263 234 234
              Catholic High 225 260 239 237
              St Nicholas 213 264 237 239

As the IP path is for selected better performing students in these schools, it is more accurate to look at the COP for non-affiliated rather than affiliated students. From the stats, it's clear that SCGS has a higher COP in this regard, with slightly higher mean and median as well.

With the affiliated COPs, it's harder to make a comparison because all the schools have different COPs for old students. But their means and medians are all at about 23+, and top students scores at between 260-264. Also note that SCGS will be raising its COP for affiliated students to 210 this year and 220 next year. Hence, all the COPs for SCGS affiliated will go up in the next few years.

As such, the schools are comparable academically. And I would say that SCGS looks academically stronger, especially with its increase in affiliated COP in the next two years.

I notice that among the new IP schools, SJI will be joining ACS (indep) and MGS to offer IB, instead of A level. I have been told that IB is "broad" while A level is "deep". Is this true? Where can I find info on IB?

I read in the Straits Times today about how a group of 8 old boys and teachers of VS has courted Cedar. I am really impressed with the Victorian brand of education, and wonโ€™t have any hesitation sending my children to VS and CGS.

I think a VS-VJC merger will be in the pipeline in the future, as mentioned in the same newspapers report.

In the same report, its mentioned that the Cedar Girls on IP will remain in Cedar for 4 years. Does that mean the VS boys on IP will also remain in the VS for 4 yrs. So what's happening with the current VJC VIP model where the students start their IP in VJC in Sec 3,4 and then carry thru to the JC1/2 years. Is that going to be discontinued in the future? It will be such a waste as that pgm has been around since 2005.

Yesterday's news mentioned that 50 VS boys and 50 Cedar girls entering sec 1 in 2011 will be selected to do the IP in Sec 3 in 2013 as interim measure (since the vs/cedar/Vjc IP will only start in 2012). I presume this batch will be doing the current VIP for the time being. Does this mean that the VIP will not accept students other than VS/Cedar for this cohort? VIP is currently open to all other schools to apply for entering at Sec3. This is a pertinent issue for the P6's this year.
