      Hi all,

I enjoy this thread so much, find it motivates me.. Thanks a lot for the sharing! I have been two years without maid, and our life is much more better although I am dreadly tired at the end of the day. My sons (P1 and K1) helped out sometimes on their things. I felt much more happier coz no more stress brought by a live-in maid.

Hmmm.. I already thought of getting a roomba to help me cleaning the floor, but still undecided yet.. :?

I used to hate ironing too. The trick is not to rush, do it in air-con rm, and at high enough temp for the fabric. I also learnt from a friend to lower the ironing board and sit down and iron - when I was pregnant or when my legs are so tired after a long day. Some use steam iron, the type used by sales person at the garment dept, not too sure how effective though.

My mil also told me not to accumulate too many pieces for ironing at 1 go. I do my ironing 2x a week, usually at nite with soft music in my bedroom 🙂 Hubby also helped by wearing polo shirts to work, if long sleeves are not required when not meeting clients 🙂

This is such an interesting thread n one of my pet topic. I really agree with what some of u have said abt life without maids!

I never like the idea of having stranger in the house. I would also never want my son to be more attached to the maid than me. Would be heartbreaking! i seen it happen with some of my friends.

Hubby wanted to get a maid cos we both work n sometime quite tiring to clean house etc. maybe when we have a 2nd kid, may have to consider. but not for now. Lucky my parents maid help with our ironing, i really hate it n take so long to get it done! 😛

We decided to get a maid when we had #2…no choice bcos PT maids go home after few hours but still have lots of follow up. I simply hated the idea of having a stranger in the house during those early years.

Hubby got a roomba 3 days ago…so far so good lah, but can’t vacuum corners as it’s round. So I will need to use my Kaarcher once a month.

              Hi Joy,
I am using Comfort…bought all the different scents.

So you still have a maid now or only during the early years? I'm a bit reluctant to have 2nd one as hubby says we'll need to get a maid otherwise too tiring. And I really don't like having maid living with us! 😞

So the roomba really works well? does it cover every part of the floors? I don't mind vacuuming or dry mop the house, but it's time consuming.

Hubby and I have a part time maid who comes in once in 2 wks now to do the more major cleaning. she is really gd and reliable, v initiative. but is going back to her family next month! we are worried if we can find another good one!

Anyone has a good part timer to recommend?

                    Hi Joy,

You pour the softener in the machine at the last rinse, but you would have to watch out for the last rinse which isn't difficult after a while.

My favourite softener scent is the green one (Comfort). There was once I bought 5 diff scents at one go bcos there was a promotion at Giant...a young couple standing behind me was wondering what they were 😉
There was once I used Downy (sample in the letter box). It is the newest one but costly, although the scent seemed to last longer.

I use Comfort (white) for all our clothes and Downy (blue) for our towels and bedsheets. DD's clothes and sheets are washed with Kodomo baby detergent. I just love the smells from the laundry room 😄

                        Hi Duriz,

I just love the smell from the kitchen too (where I hang my clothes).
Kodomo has too much lather, or else I would use it too. Comfort 5 litre only avail for white and pink…or I would get it.
When I used to have maid, they can finish a bottle of softener in a very SHORT period…do they drink the softener ?
