Fortunately I enjoy hanging up wet laundry, so it's no big deal every night when I hear the beep beep sound from the washing machine...bought several different scents of softeners to make my clothes and kitchen smell good

I LOVE doing laundry, I find it very therapeutic.
But I DREAD ironing. I cannot do it well and I find it very tedious 😐

I love doing ironing! and realised that most people really hate it. I like how everything looks so nice and straight after that.

But I don't like doing dishes, and mopping.

I guess having never had a maid, we've learnt to live with a certain level of cleanliness (or should I say, dirt?) haha.

Quite amazed when I hear of friends with maids saying that their maids mop every alternate day! I magicklean whenever I can.... and the PT cleaner helps do the sweaty whole house cleaning.

I think a slightly dirty house is a reasonable trade-off for the emotional stress that a maid could bring... and sure there are some good maids, but I think the process of finding one and keeping her 'good' can already be extremely stressful.

            Hi all,

I enjoy this thread so much, find it motivates me.. Thanks a lot for the sharing! I have been two years without maid, and our life is much more better although I am dreadly tired at the end of the day. My sons (P1 and K1) helped out sometimes on their things. I felt much more happier coz no more stress brought by a live-in maid.

Hmmm.. I already thought of getting a roomba to help me cleaning the floor, but still undecided yet.. :?

I used to hate ironing too. The trick is not to rush, do it in air-con rm, and at high enough temp for the fabric. I also learnt from a friend to lower the ironing board and sit down and iron - when I was pregnant or when my legs are so tired after a long day. Some use steam iron, the type used by sales person at the garment dept, not too sure how effective though.

My mil also told me not to accumulate too many pieces for ironing at 1 go. I do my ironing 2x a week, usually at nite with soft music in my bedroom 🙂 Hubby also helped by wearing polo shirts to work, if long sleeves are not required when not meeting clients 🙂

This is such an interesting thread n one of my pet topic. I really agree with what some of u have said abt life without maids!

I never like the idea of having stranger in the house. I would also never want my son to be more attached to the maid than me. Would be heartbreaking! i seen it happen with some of my friends.

Hubby wanted to get a maid cos we both work n sometime quite tiring to clean house etc. maybe when we have a 2nd kid, may have to consider. but not for now. Lucky my parents maid help with our ironing, i really hate it n take so long to get it done! 😛

We decided to get a maid when we had #2…no choice bcos PT maids go home after few hours but still have lots of follow up. I simply hated the idea of having a stranger in the house during those early years.

Hubby got a roomba 3 days ago…so far so good lah, but can’t vacuum corners as it’s round. So I will need to use my Kaarcher once a month.

                    Hi Joy,
I am using Comfort…bought all the different scents.

So you still have a maid now or only during the early years? I'm a bit reluctant to have 2nd one as hubby says we'll need to get a maid otherwise too tiring. And I really don't like having maid living with us! 😞

So the roomba really works well? does it cover every part of the floors? I don't mind vacuuming or dry mop the house, but it's time consuming.

Hubby and I have a part time maid who comes in once in 2 wks now to do the more major cleaning. she is really gd and reliable, v initiative. but is going back to her family next month! we are worried if we can find another good one!

Anyone has a good part timer to recommend?
