Yah lor! This milk thingy is really burning a big hole in my pocket...sunflower:
Yes, I've tried Dumex Dugro chocolate, but my DD2 didn't like it either. I think she's too used to the Pediasure taste.
Probably...
So, cannot downgrade.

Actually, my DD1 was underweight when she was little and took Pediasure at the recommendation of her paediatrician. I find that it didn't really help her gain weight and until now, sheβs still as thin as ever.
Hi Sunflower, I know what you mean, my DD2 has been tiny since birth and even after 2 years of Pediasure still so tiny. Don't know where did all the 'good stuff' go to??
I decided that we will bite the bullet and stick to it... at the back of our minds, maybe if not for pediasure, could even be even thinner if that is possible?!!

How about fresh milk for toddlers? Tastes much nicer than formula. My 2.5 year-old boy been taking it as he doesn't like the formula milk taste.
But he's underweight so not sure which one is better. But it's such a struggle to get him to drink formula...tried so many brands . I have to mix the milk powder into his cereal, as he won't drink it. Only drinks fresh milk.
Any advice? -
Gain IQ and Pediasure.

Hiya pea, fresh milk can be considered as whole food. If you are still worried about getting enough extra boost of nutrients, give fortified cereal and also kiddy supplements like Nutroplex. How about fresh milk for toddlers? Thanks MLR!
My sis said that in US and Canada they give mostly fresh milk after 1 year old. The formula milk not so popular there, very hard to find in supermarkets. Do you know if that's true? Since your hubby from there, right? -
pea:
Yes, its true. You are kinda 'forced' to breastfeed, formula is very expensive (almost no 1.8kg pack available and 900g Similac cost about SGD38 and not many choices available). A friend was relocated to Toronto when their boy was about 4 mths old and she couldn't breastfeed due to medical reasons. They had to shipped a few cartons of formulas, due to the quantity, almost couldn't clear customs. Thanks MLR!

If your kiddie has no allergy, fresh milk is fine after 1 yr old, cos from solid food can get sufficient nutrients, of course that is provided your kid is not picky eater. DH's nephew and nieces started fresh milk after being wean from breastfeeding. Also they take supplements like cod liver oil, multi-vits since young too.
Hope this helps. -
Hi, just wanted to share some research that I did on FM.
I found that only Abbott's FM (Similac, Gain IQ) use primarily sunflower oil. Most other brands use primarily palm oil which often cause constipation and supposedly affects calcium and oil absorption.
More details at my blog http://www.nagmummy.com/?p=10
Anyway, my gal had BM for 6 mths. Afterwhich we started her on enfalac but her stools became very hard. We tried Similac and situation improved. She's now on Gain IQ. -
My niece started to use similac since birth and she had constipation. So the mother changed to Friso and condition is much better. Not all kids are the same so you have to depend on your kid whether the milk is suitable to the kid.
My girl has been drinking Friso since birth and she does not have any constipation.

Agree. My nephew used to drink S26, the FM that most pple say will give constipation, but he was fine. When switch to Gain, he had bad constipation. So it depends very much on the kiddy. Best to try and get some samples from your doctor before getting a can and ended up wasting it.My niece started to use similac since birth and she had constipation.
