My is \"Don't need perfect score but near perfect\" (ps at least above 90 and above).
Agreed. My Motto is to \"Try his/her Best\" and not score 100.
Hee hee but if prep well .. for lower Primary ... their best should be around 100 :rotflmao:
Told her to try her best, got low score, I accept, she got upset. What to do, have to help/encourage her in her study. -

However, I encouraged her & reminded her its most impt to have tried her best & we are v proud of her as long as she had worked hard. Its such a long journey of learning for them, so I'm more concerned of teaching them self-studying skill then spoonfeeding them. But I am stil a culprit of spoonfeeding and drilling, which is quite stressful for our relationships some times.
His parents were and still are very proud of him. As a matter of fact, both parents wanted to go up the stage but only one is allowed...so daddy said mummy accompany him :imcool: I am guilty of spoonfeeding and drilling too.
The award is a confirmation that your ds has the brain power to excel when he's motivated. You've already mentioned it here. But have you told (& retold) your ds how proud his parents were on that prize giving day?markfch:
Hi Trapwithin/markfch,
Whether he gets a trophy or not...that is not impt...Most impt is the belief in working real hard and being rewarded with good results...then he is able to answer to himself. As a mum, I can plan the most fantastic time-table for him, but if he doesn't want to work hard, what's the point ?
I think most kids will want their parents to be proud of them. At least this is true for me & and my ds as well.

Ditto that
Agree! My dd was beaming ear to ear when she went up on stage the last 2 yrs. But she knew this year she wont be able to go onstage again. I am VERY guilty of spoonfeeding...my bonding with son emotionally is stronger than daughter, being the first-born and having medical problem...actually lots of mixed feelings although I try not to play favouritism. Both are my children.

The year before last, only one parent was allowed, so hub asked dd who shd go up with her and she said \"This year lets have mummy going up as she worked hard with me. Next year, it will be daddy's turn.\".
Last year, we saw quite a number of parents going up, and even families. So we went up 2gther with our younger one as well! And my younger one was the one with the widest smile, as if she was the one who won the award
My objective, since last year, was to teach my dd self studying skills which requiresalot of self discipline. However, I am always ever so tempted to going back to drilling as that produces more instant results. But as we know, instant noodles tastes nice but does not provide enough nutrients, so I really have to control myself at times. But I try to balance between drilling and allowing her to study at her pace. I think my P4 dd is showing a little more self discipline now. I shall wait for her results to see how she did this SA2. -
My dear son just passed for his CL Paper 2. Just as I expected, his 2 sections (comprehension open ended and duan wen tian kong) pulled him down. Will really have to see how to help him improve this holidays.

Janet,
Is yr ds ok with strict tuition teachers? There is a tuition centre based in Beauty World but students hv to attend lessons twice a week and they are very strict with doing homework. -
comfy:
I teach her mostly. Actually, she was using a P4 compo practise book. I felt it's closer to her class's standard. She has half mark deducted for CL pp1.
Does that mean you will be letting her do P4 compre O&E next yr :!:
I was just thinking of asking her to finish doing P3 compre O &E assessment book. Perhaps jump to P5 one and give her a shock, he!he!
Do you teach her yourself?

My son's tutor is very strict and gave him lots of hw...I had to ask her to reduce bcos his teachers in school also piled on. At a loss now, but yet don't want son to see psychiatrist if he has to complete both school and tutor...ie if I don't ask tutor to reduce workload. Next yr P5. How ? Pls advise.janet_lee88:
