Hi nanana, I don't think sambucol is recommended for children under 3. Your DD (who is lovely, looking at her picMy 21 month old toddler girl is having phlegm and cough and running nose. Her body always feel warm/hot to touch but ear thermometer always show 36.9 deg celcius or highest is 37.3 deg celcius. I still give her paracetamol suspension.
Visited GP and was prescribed some medicines for phlegm, cough and running nose. 2 days already her phlegm and cough don't seem to get better. At night when sleeping she would cough till she wakes up and lots of phlegm in her throat.
Supplements that I am giving her all long are cod liver oil and colostrum powder. Since she falls sick, I also give her Vitamin C supplement.
Can I give her sambucol in this instance? will it help? but will that be too much supplements for her to take since she has yet to reach 2 yrs old?
Can I still give her the above supplements while she is also taking western medicines?
Any food or fruits to avoid? and what food is good for her at this moment. pls advise.. thanks!!
is taking quite a number of supplements as it is. My best advice is to bring her to her pd to get better advice.
As for food and fruits, I guess the general rule of thumb is nothing cold or too sweet. Some fruits that are too sweet may further irritate her throat, although taking fruits are good for children.
You can also consider bringing her to a Chinese sinseh (TCM) instead? -

That's fairly common.
Remind your DD to wash her hands more often when she's at the CC.
Get her to wash her hands and feet when she gets home from the CC.
Being sick is no fun for both child and parents.
But it's a good way to build up her immunity.
I hope your DD feels better soon

My DS (9mths) cough + phlegm want to register PR on him, but I have been rejecting the application. haha… It has been there for 1 mth… on and off… getting better and then worst again. Visiting PD for so many times and pocket is already 1 big hole.
Childcare plays a part and weather too. I also placed him at Infant care for 3 weeks liao and now he is still coughing with phlegm.
I have given him some powder from EYS for dry stubborn cough with phlegm. It seem abit better but will still giving him the phlegm medication 1-2 hrs apart.
For kids, it is very difficult for them to recover from phlegm coz they dont know how to cough it out. They will swollow it back lor. -

The cc always get the kids to wash hands before meal and water time. But there are many kids there having cough and running nose so I think the virus is flying around, everywhere.

You mean after she recovers from the sickness, her immunity will get stronger?
Thanks, I really hate it when she is sick.. she will cough out phlegm and swallow it back. At night she would cough and vomit during sleep.
Sigh... I am very worried.. and she still having on and off fever too.

Fever in children cannot be taken lightly.
Your immunity tends to build after each flu episode.
Children don't know how to expel phlegm, so they either swallow or throw up.
Actually, I'm a mummy and I don't know how to spit. So I swallow my phlegm as well
Don't worry too much.
Monitor her temperature, give her a quick sponging when her temp soars, wrap her in comfortable cotton clothes and let her have warm rice water.
You take good care too.
You need your wits about you and strength to take care of your DD.

Hi
Was wondering anyone bought dong cong xia cao for your kids to eat?
Understand from my friend it helps to cure cough. At the same time, help to build up the body.
Like to know how you prepare the drink or soup.
Thanks. -
Hi,
I also just asked my mum to help me get some dong chong cao for my kids who are prone to cough and flu since young (reason given by PD is allergy…). They have been taking singulair and zyrtec on a daily basis for about a year now. Hopefully the dong chong cao will help to reduce the dependence on western medicine……we are asking the medical hall to grind the dong chong cao into powder, seems more convenient than boiling soup. This thing is so expensive now…anyone know of any cheap, good and reliable place to get this?? -
I thought singulair is a very effective medicine for cough. My DD took it for a month and now the frequent cough has stopped (touch wood)
Try giving your child those multi-vitamin gummy bear. I think it helps to build a strong body
Those China Barley (big grain) is also good for building strong body. I gave my DD once a week
She used to fall sick every month (although she didn’t attend CC) but after taking the above 2, she didn’t fall sick for the past 8 months (touch wood)
