Though no straming, the P1 students are still rank from the 1st to the 330th at the endof the year. So stress will also build up subtlelyI'll take that first yr w/o stress anytime friend . Still preferable than streaming at end of P1.
Actually under the new system, the later yrs will also be less stressful as long as one does not make it to the top 4 classes (writing it as though it's almost an aim not to be in top 4, haha). But better still if sch can totally do away with level ranking for all 6 levels. Just announce the standard deviation, mean & highest/lowest scores will do. Then I can set my boat to cruise control, invite ds on board & relac relac together. Still must study lah of course, but it's studying to the tune of relaxing classical music

No matter where you place the 4 classes, it is very easy to tell.... unless the kid is totally bochap and happy-go-lucky type.....i mentioned before, they will compare worksheet... somehow, i believe they will get to know within weeks....parents will ask and compare too....very difficult to conceal....[/quote]Agreed. Even the most bo-chap kids also want to know. Because I was once a \"bo-chap\" kid. \"bo-chap\" doesn't mean not \"kpo\"
But I not even invited for dialogue session how to go?markfch:

Good idea. They could possibly do that too. Why not you show up at the dialogue session on Monday and suggest that? I am serious.
P will tell me, 'mai kancheong, your ds not even p1 yet you got so many things to say oredi.'
But since you think it's a good idea, I'll find a way to reflect this to her.
Seriously after thinking thru yesterday and discuss with my dw & dd, I think the P came up with a brilliant way of streaming the classes. I am totally for it except for the naming. It is just a waste of time and effort.
Some of my friend's kid who are in PH (diff classes) will compare who and who is in the top 4 classes. It is not a healthy way of competiton. The proposed method will in a way elimnated the 2/3 lower tier but to change naming so that they will not know is not going to work for the kids. They are smart.
Nan Hua top classes in place in the middle and everyone knows about it. -
Funx3:
P6 is a different story altogether cos they have to identify the kids doing foundation subjects. I believe this group of students will be classed together.
Coz I know of a P6 Gal this year in the Last Class, who is very Weak in her studies.Funx3:
Yes. I received it too.Do U Receive this?

Not at P4 level. One parent commented yesterday that it was not reflected in the report books for the P4s. P's reply was don't want to stress them further.
Though no straming, the P1 students are still rank from the 1st to the 330th at the endof the year. So stress will also build up subtlely -

I know of a school that changes the top classes' numbering yearly, so it's inconspicuous for a slightly longer time. In a way, it helps the weaker students not to feel so inferior.

For those whose kids are above average in this school, can relax a bit. As long as your kids are showing consistency, their PSLE results should not dissappoint.
Emphasis on character building, expose to sports and arts, effective communications skills are other key areas they should focus. Donโt stress kids out uneccessary for addition few pts to gain entry to RI/HCI/RGS/NYGH by sending them to all kinds of tuitions. Is actually not require. T-score above 240 is decent and 250 and above is already coommendable. Let kids explore themselves as this is an area we parents should focus to develop independent learning and critical thinking skills.
Good cca record, robust character and communication skills are just as important. -

Agree with U on the Importance of CCA, Character Development, etc.
However P don't seem to think like US - leh!
On this CCA development aspect, in PH Parents will have to take on Larger Role to find and plan your own path. In another words, B MORE KS   ....
School is Not \"GREAT\" when it comes to this Dept ..... Not very supportive-lah! -

Thatโs why must select secondary school carefully. Need to excercise wisdom in this respect. Excellence in ccas, character building, independent learning etc all these may be invisible at pri level but they are all critical at sec level. You will see for yourself later that many who excel at pri and sec may not do that well at pre-uni level.
Choose the cca you believe your child can excel and fully support it. Any mistake made change quickly. Top schools may be suitable for top PSLE performers but may not be suitable for many others good performers.
Hope you get the hint. God bless.
