      Hi all,


      I am not very familiar with the topics for the new syllabus. Does all school start on the same topics at P3? Thanks. :?

      No. This is because Science for primary school is divided into lower (P3-4) and upper (P5-6) blocks. Schools can decide the arrangement of topics within each block.

      The easiest way to tell which are the topics that will be covered at P3 is to check with the relevant school directly.

      Thanks! ๐Ÿ˜„ So as long as all the themes for P3 and P4 are taught within these two years, and the rest taught in P5 and P6, the sequence does not matter?

Systems will be taught from Term 3 onwards.

        In P4, Cycles (Life Cycles & Matter), Interactions (Magnets) and Energy (Heat & Light) will be taught.

        From P5 onwards, there are 4 topics somewhat similar to P3/4 but in deeper context.

I was thinking of if 2 themes were to be taught in P3, then that would leave 3 themes to be taught in P4! Thanks for confirming the themes but I think what you had posted only pertain to our school. Other schools might jumble up the themes in P3/4. Stilll, got to be mentally prepared. ๐Ÿ˜„

            Hi E3,

            I can only give you a guideline what topics were covered during the past 2 yearsโ€ฆprovided MR Science HOD doesnโ€™t change anything.

              In PSLE Science, students learned that the digestive system comprises the:

              -Mouth
              -Gullet
              -Stomach
              -Small intestine
              -Large intestine
              -Anus

              Digestion begins in the mouth. It is completed in the small intestine.

              The question asks a student to explain why and one is expected to give the reason/cause on why something happened.

              My suggestion is to keep within the syllabus. I think itโ€™s good enough to explain that more digested juices are added in the small intestine and digestion is completed in the small intestine.

              (My answer is based on information from the old edition of PSLE Science Guide, please refer to your current textbook/guidebook to see if more information is added)

              What is the difference between the 1st edition and the 2nd edition? I bought the PSLE science guide for my elder boy when he was in P3 2 years ago. Now when my younger one is going to P3 next year, its already 2nd edition.

                If you download the <b><a href=\"http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/syllabuses/sciences/files/science-primary-2008.pdf%22%3EPrimary Science Syllabus</a></b>, you will find the topics that will be covered at each block on page 10.

                  I am not too sure as I donโ€™t have a copy of the second edition.

                  Some topics such as The Solar System, Simple Machines, etc are not covered in the new syllabus.

                  For current students, itโ€™s good to refer to the latest copy of the science guide.

                    The 2nd edition is tailored and reorganised to suit the current PSLE Science syllabus ie section A on the revision notes based on different themes (Lower/Upper blocks).Section B (Process Skills) and Section C (Case studies) remain the same.

                        There were some Science guide books and assessment sold at Popular roadshows earlier...bought some of them, thinking I landed a good deal...until I realized they were old syllabus ๐Ÿ˜ข ๐Ÿ˜ข

                        'Diversity', 'The Solar System' are not taught in upper primary...now stuck with a pile of old books.
