All About Pregnancy
-
Hi Chief, RRMummy and the rest of my supporters,
Really thanks you all so much for your supports and encouragements, if not staying at home all the time and feeling you have no where to go for the last four months is terrible. At times I felt bad to rely on my hubby and my whole family so much, sometimes I know they really purposely make trips down to help me or check on me. (Hope I won't suffer from pre/post natal depression)
Hmm.. Although I used to be a pediatric nurse but I am now a patient at home... Who needs all my family(as my nurses) and you all(as my counsellors). I bought lots of Medical reference books at home for this pregnancy period to read thru and prepare myself to be more knowledgeable (If I can) when I go back to work. But somehow everytimes when I open up to read, I will fall asleep after the first page... (Perhaps I can read every night so that my hubby can shorten or escape from massaging me to sleep).
If I ever sound harsh or too longwinded when I replied in the forum, do forgive me. Hee... Due to my former occupation, we are not allow to forget any details which will benefit or save our 'customers'.
As for my craving, it seems less aggressive than last few months. Maybe I give up... Hee... My girl did help me to nag and order food from daddy. If my hubby never comes back with the food I wants, she will scold him, but I somehow felt bad for her to scold her dad. (Disrespecting him mah)
My hubby did thanked me one day to have this 2nd child for us and sorry to make me suffer so much for him, he wished that I could transfer all the sufferings to him. Hmmm... Sound so sweet right! Imagine if our labour pain transfer 50% to our hubbies, firstly they may faint right away or have to take huge dose morphine, finally they won't dare to ask for 2nd child for the rest of their life. Haha... So funny.
I went for ultrasound again last week 17th weeks, Gynae trying very hard to find whether it's a boy or girl, but my bb just don't want to show. Cover the xxx part with both legs tightly. When I went for scanfor my girl to check for sex also the same, she covered with her whole hand. So have to wait for another month...
Any good confinement ladies to introduce to me? And what should I expect and provide for them when they are around? What's the market rate nowadays??? she don't need to look after or cook for my girl, my parents will look after. -

Hi jenniferjoey, glad to hear that the worst part is finally passing and you do sound like you have cheered up quite a bit now! :ugogirl:Hi Chief, RRMummy and the rest of my supporters,

It's great that you are seeing things from the bright side - you have a mature girl that is most supportive of you and a hubby that dotes on you despite his own pressures at work. I think lots of mummies will envy you on these 2 counts alone.
Each time we went for ultrascan, my daughter would be spotted sucking her thumb. Really funny. I still have the scans with me - just remember to scan them before they fade away. -

Yup Chief, I loved those sneak-preview moments...
I showed my DDs but they don't believe it is them..
ChiefKiasu:
Really ah???! I didn't know it would fade. Thanks for the info! I would have been devastated if I found out too late!! :lovesite:- just remember to scan them before they fade away.

Huh will fade off?? Hmm... Should scan all. but dun know why the Gynae forget to give me the 4th month's ultrasound pics.
too late to ask as he never print out.
My girl every week will ask when we going to see Gynae, She has 4 motives to keep going. 1. She likes to play with the water dispenser in the clinic, always pretend she wants to fetch some water for me so that I won't be thirsty. 2. She loves to see the growth of the bb so that she can reports to her grandparents and school about the progress. 3. She will reports to me how many new fishes in the fish tank at the clinic. 4. Lastly and the main motive, she get a pack of rebena sweets from the Gynae.
Also dun know why the Gynae sees her also very happy. (He delivered my girl) So I told my girl this is the doctor who cut mummy's tummy up to get you out and beat your backside when you are borned, she asked 'is it true?' I told her to ask the Gynae but she dun dare.
Sometimes it helps alot when I explained to my girl the whole process of delivery (Both natural and Cesearan) with Discovery Channel and library books. She loves to read my pregnancy books I borrow.
Any confinement nanny to intro? or do I need? Now staying without in-laws and parents, wonder if they will come over and help after I give birth. Moreover my hubby is so blurr person, dun dare to ask him to cook or clean the house for me... Scare in the end I need to do all by myself. I most likely will be having a Cesearan again. May get postnatal blue... :faint:ChiefKiasu:

Hi jenniferjoey, sorry I have no good ones to recommend. In fact the one I got for my first confinement was horrible and she left after 1 week... well that's another story.. After that my auntie helped out.
I think it is best to have someone to backup, either confinement nanny or family elders. It is said that best to come with minimal contact with water (except for those boiled with the special herbs..)to avoid rheumatism at old age, so with help you can minimize all the washing, cleaning.. not to mention get enough rest and minimal heavy lifting, laundry etc etc... -
RRMummy:
My mum said that because my previous confinement did not do well, so I need to do a good one this time, so that I won't keep getting sick till I old.jenniferjoey:

Hi jenniferjoey, yup I heard many old folks saying that too. It is said that if normally body is weak, it is possible to get a great boost if confinement is done properly...My mum said that because my previous confinement did not do well, so I need to do a good one this time, so that I won't keep getting sick till I old.
But how to....
The key is in eating all the right 'pu', having enough rest and observing all the Dos and don'ts... I must admit some are really, really tough!
Hopefully our community here has a very good experienced confinement nanny to recommend.. I strongly urge you to hire someone that has been hired recently and highly recommended by someone you know... -
ya… i think confinement is very important… my mother insisted to be my confinement lady and i’m really glad she did!
i think confinement is ok, except the part where u cannot shower n wash hair in the hot humid weather. -
Hope this thread is helpful for Mum going into labour soon...
I will start 1st...
1) 1 month before birth, drank 1/3 of bird nest ( Bottle form)everyday. This is said to help the baby to have radiant cheeks
2) On the day of labour, have a fresh coconut drink. This will help the baby to come out cleaner and without much blood surrounding them.
3) Immediately pass a pair of mitten to the nurse and demand they put it on for the baby when the baby arrive as this will prevent them from scratching their face... Baby has sharp nails when they arrive... I had seen baby with very badly scratch face...
It worked for me. My baby has radiant cheek and he is very clean when he arrived.
I had noticed some newborn with very sticky hair and dried blood stick to their hair.
Please share with me more with us so that i can advise my SIL who is giving birth in March
Btw, i don't know what subject should i put. Can anyone help? Or this is somewhere in the thread??????
