Any confinement nanny to intro? or do I need? Now staying without in-laws and parents, wonder if they will come over and help after I give birth. Moreover my hubby is so blurr person, dun dare to ask him to cook or clean the house for me... Scare in the end I need to do all by myself. I most likely will be having a Cesearan again. May get postnatal blue... :faint:
Hi jenniferjoey, sorry I have no good ones to recommend. In fact the one I got for my first confinement was horrible and she left after 1 week... well that's another story.. After that my auntie helped out.
I think it is best to have someone to backup, either confinement nanny or family elders. It is said that best to come with minimal contact with water (except for those boiled with the special herbs..)to avoid rheumatism at old age, so with help you can minimize all the washing, cleaning.. not to mention get enough rest and minimal heavy lifting, laundry etc etc... -

My mum said that because my previous confinement did not do well, so I need to do a good one this time, so that I won't keep getting sick till I old.jenniferjoey:

Hi jenniferjoey, yup I heard many old folks saying that too. It is said that if normally body is weak, it is possible to get a great boost if confinement is done properly...My mum said that because my previous confinement did not do well, so I need to do a good one this time, so that I won't keep getting sick till I old.
But how to....
The key is in eating all the right 'pu', having enough rest and observing all the Dos and don'ts... I must admit some are really, really tough!
Hopefully our community here has a very good experienced confinement nanny to recommend.. I strongly urge you to hire someone that has been hired recently and highly recommended by someone you know... -
yaβ¦ i think confinement is very importantβ¦ my mother insisted to be my confinement lady and iβm really glad she did!
i think confinement is ok, except the part where u cannot shower n wash hair in the hot humid weather. -
Hope this thread is helpful for Mum going into labour soon...
I will start 1st...
1) 1 month before birth, drank 1/3 of bird nest ( Bottle form)everyday. This is said to help the baby to have radiant cheeks
2) On the day of labour, have a fresh coconut drink. This will help the baby to come out cleaner and without much blood surrounding them.
3) Immediately pass a pair of mitten to the nurse and demand they put it on for the baby when the baby arrive as this will prevent them from scratching their face... Baby has sharp nails when they arrive... I had seen baby with very badly scratch face...
It worked for me. My baby has radiant cheek and he is very clean when he arrived.
I had noticed some newborn with very sticky hair and dried blood stick to their hair.
Please share with me more with us so that i can advise my SIL who is giving birth in March
Btw, i don't know what subject should i put. Can anyone help? Or this is somewhere in the thread?????? -
hi waynemum,
have moved your topic. take the birdsβ nest only if mums-to-be have taken it before, lest it triggers an allergic reaction.
chief, if thereβs an existing topic, pls feel free to merge. thanks. -

Yes, agree with mathsparks on the birds nest'. My DS had eczema as a baby and the 1st quest the paediatrician asked and kept on asking whenever he had an attack was whether I had taken birds' nest when I was pregnant.
Your SIL due in March rite?? Don't wait so late to take the coconut water. Take from today
I took it from the last trimester ie 7 mths onwards 3 to 4 times a week and true enough, DS came out clean. Its old wives tale, but seems to work. Seems that its also good for the womb or something. Also drank warm soyabean every single nite for fair skin so much so that the soyabean lady would set aside one cup for DH to collect every nite
DS came out 'radiant' and v v white too compared to now.
Also drank red raspberry tea leaves to relieve discomfort. It is also said to strengthen and tone uterine walls and help delivery easier and faster.
Drank loads and loads of water and walked and walked to prevent water retention and swollen feet. Did loads and loads of 'made me happy' things like mani pedi, facial, massages (v v gd for blood circulation, but must go to pre-natal massage specialist)
I don't know if this is your SIL's first baby. I can give you a long list, but if given a choice waynemum, the most impt piece of suggestion I can provide is to be POSITIVE. That is v v impt. I really believe that it impacts on the baby in the long run. To cut the story short, if mummy is happy, baby will be happy and will grow up happy provided the positive philosophy is maintained. Also eat healthily - its a must.
I speak from my own personal experience. Actually there is just too much stuff to share lah really
If I can remember any other really impt ones, will add on. -
Thanks for tips coz I'm gonna deliver in 29 days' time. Wish me luck!
