ALL of Us Will PAUSE and Start Counting on Our Fingers ....
Is that the TOP Class .... Or Is it the Non-SEEDED Class????

Our bro markfch thought that PH is being merciful mah
Reading is one important part in learning languages...how can the school be so kind to the P1 kids liked what our brother markfch thought, right?
Anyway I asked that qn cos I wanted to gauge what std is PH expecting for P1 students. -

Near end of T1 or beginning of T2, the kids will have to go through the reading test....using the test result as a guide, you can choose those books that are near to your ds's reading level....

Is the reading test called SRT? Or is it the other one with ratings (can't remember the exact name)?

my dd's p2 EL teacheer only told her, go, go, go ahead! reading as more as possible...i'm so appreciated to her EL teacher.
I wish I was more involved in her studies the past 2 years
E3, I didn't know about this until I read what you wrote. Just asked DD about it and she said she knew about it long ago... Oh dear, what have I been doing whole of last year?Happy Mama:

Yes, the kids are supposed to write book reviews and submit them to the FTs. My dd's P2 FT gave them several templates for them to fill in their book reviews. The child can redeem a free storybook from the library for every 6 book reviews that he/she had completed. All these book reviews will be consolidated at the end of the year. The book reviews need not be on books borrowed from the school library.
Thank goodness we have KSP forum and thank goodness I stopped working recently. At least I am more in touch with DD's work now.

aiyo... i didn't go into the details.....this one must ask E3.....
Your acronym SRT can mean two things, School Readiness Test or Star Reading Test.

I presume php is referring to the Star Reading Test which will be conducted twice a year. Once in Term 1 and another one in Term 4. These tests will gauge your kid's reading competency based on the United States standard. However, don't get too affected by the score cos it's just a guide.
As for the School Readiness Test, it is to detemine the basic level of literacy of the P1 kids. If they do not pass the test, they will have to attend the Learning Support Programme. Most kids will be fine. My dd told me her classroom's tables had been arranged for a P1 test so I assume it could be meant for this purpose. -
