Thermal pot

mamemo:
If you leave soup inside thermal pot for so many hours, all the pork rib and chicken would have been quite tasteless, the bones can fall apart...too cooked. I usually leave it inside for at most 2-3 hours as kids still want to eat the pork ribs.I just bought an Endo 6 Litre one few weeks ago and it was a life saver !
We've cooked the following soups:
Corn with Pork Rib Soup
ABC Soup (Carrot, Radish, Potato and Pork Rib)
Old Cucumber Soup
Winter Melon Soup
However we are not sure what dish to cook for the smaller inner pot. So far only tried rice and stewed chicken
Did any mummies cook fish / egg / tofu with the small pot ?
We cook from 7am - 7pm so was wondering whether the fish / egg / tofu would still taste nice after 12hours ?
Thanks for your help ! -
My Tiger thermo pot is really useful. Once my new maid put it on the stove to cook and burn the rubber off, I was so upset. Thankfully, the company was able to replace the rubber bottom and after so many years, it's still working fine
So, go for Tiger brand

Cool! I didn't know the rubber can be replaced. Mine was slightly burnt too, but that was my mum. Heartache! But damage wasn't major as my mum remembered in time.
Have anyone tried buying a smaller inner pot to be used? I wanted to get another smaller Tiger Magic Pot (mine was the old model with handle) and was told that it is not necessary. The sales lady at Taka told be to just get a smaller pot at $45. She said as long as it fit inside the outer pot, it will work as well. But the logic doesn't make sense. With such a huge empty space in the the puter pot, wouldn't there be more heat lost? -
Thanks b2b3m4 n Janet_lee88:-)
My friend bought a two tier mini pot from Tangs for only $26! brand is Iona n the outer pot is plastic. She says it works too. -

This thermal pot is a god send. After reading all the wonderful reviews here, I decided to get one for myself last year. Got the Tiger brand from Tangs during one of their promotions.
So far, have made:
Ayam ponteh (it's a peranakan dish - chicken with tau cheo)
Ayam buakulak (peranakan dish)
Bak kut teh
Chicken stew /soup
Pork ribs soup
The meat tastes really tender after being in the pot. As per what some forummers have suggested, it's good to cook for about 20-30 mins to bring out the flavour. After that, I would place the inner pot into the thermal pot for the day.
And for the peranakan dishes mentioned above, if I leave it overnight in the pot, the dish tastes lagi best
Thanks to everyone here for cooking tips and recommending the wonders of the thermal pot. :celebrate: -

My dd2 is so inspired by the pork ribs and corn soup that she asked her daddy to buy corn seeds and now she is attempting to grow corn in a little pot

Hi Schweppes,
I get the twin pack corn from Giant/Shop and save. Super sweet carrot (loose ones) from Giantβ¦soup is so sweet. The prepacked carrot cannot compare. -
