Anyone who knows of a good and reliable PD… Most PDs give antibiotic readily n tis is nt good. My current PD is good but seems to be making many mistakes so I want to change. Also she is operating during off hrs, thus have to take child MC to visit her…inconvenient… Any recommendations?? M staying at Hougang Area. Thanks!!

I have amazing techniques of curbing minor coughs and runny nose.

              For Coughs
If you feel the itch in your throat, if drinking or taking soothers do not help, try to refrain from coughing(even though it is the most natural thing to do. Try to hold the urge to cough for as long as you can, until you start tearing.
😢 At this point, you will start feeling your saliva turning sour. Swallow your sour saliva and it helps to stop your cough. It is a natural remedy for coughs. You will find this funny, but it worked for me by chance on a crowded bus once, and I've been using this method since. It is not easy (that's why you will start to tear instead), and almost impossible for little children to do.

For Runny Nose (esp at night before or when you sleep)
Put your palms together with all 10 fingers pressed gently together (like in a chinese prayer), sleep on your right side with head pressing against your hands (to keep the hands together in position).

Your palms and feet will start to warm up and your runny nose will soon stop. It works for me and the kids, who normally fall asleep quickly after that (runny nose gone). It is hard to get them into that position sometimes, but if they do, it works after about 10 minutes. No need medication. This position simply keeps your body warmer.

Putting whole/ half Onions with peeled skin at your bedside also helps to ease the runny nose - i.e. if you can stand the smell of onions. Discard the onion after the 3rd day/4th day or when it turns dry.

My DD just had her tonsil remove in Feb'11, just a 45 min op, after that she is fully awake, and takes ice cream !.. she is 5.5 yr old.
she complained pain , just give a dose of pain killer..the next day, she did not complain pain anymore.
we take the pain killer for 2 days and we atop.
soft diet (porridge) for 5 days and she is ok now

I thought singulair is a very effective medicine for cough. My DD took it for a month and now the frequent cough has stopped (*touch wood*)

Try giving your child those multi-vitamin gummy bear. I think it helps to build a strong body

Those China Barley (big grain) is also good for building strong body. I gave my DD once a week

She used to fall sick every month (although she didn't attend CC) but after taking the above 2, she didn't fall sick for the past 8 months (*touch wood*)
After reading your post, my MIL and I agreed on giving my girl china barley instead of the other type. She also heard good things about china barley, but its effect to counter urinary infections. So after reading your post, she gave my daughter that on a day that my daughter was having bad breath due to heatiness. At the end of the day, she has no more bad breath. So after that, we both trust china barley.

But I have a question. You mentioned that your daughter didn't fall sick for 8 months after taking china barley and multi-vit. How long did she take the two before you see this good effect?

                    Hi,

I also just asked my mum to help me get some dong chong cao for my kids who are prone to cough and flu since young (reason given by PD is allergy…). They have been taking singulair and zyrtec on a daily basis for about a year now. Hopefully the dong chong cao will help to reduce the dependence on western medicine…..we are asking the medical hall to grind the dong chong cao into powder, seems more convenient than boiling soup. This thing is so expensive now…anyone know of any cheap, good and reliable place to get this??
                    Is dong chong cao heaty?

I dare not give my daughter although I heard good things about it and my daughter has been prone to cold and cough since Jan. I have phobia cuz I very dependent on Brand's chicken essence with dong chong cao when I am busy with work (usually every other day only at most). Once, I kay kiang took consecutively for 3 days cuz a lot of work to do. On the 4th day, I was on high fever liao. So I dunno izzit my health no good, or the chicken essence, or is it the dong cong cao.

                    Advise pls. TIA.

My chinese physician has advised me against giving girls dong chong cao as it will stimulate their hormones and they’ll start to grow moustache.

Can anyone help to advise, be it chinese or western medicine. Will it become ineffective if mixed into milk for my toddler girl?

She totally refuse to drink her medicine, be it chinese or western and I have to mix into her milk. But I heard from a shop assistant at EYS that it will become ineffective and no point taking the med liao.

Can anyone advise if it is true? if I dun mix into milk, there is no way my girl will take her medicine. :?:
