My hub had not gone for PTC for 2 years. Coz we find it more like chit chat session. N ysday I asked if he's goin dis year, he thinks not necy since I'll be there. I tink it really depends on Ts style, some are v encouraging and positive, so they only give gd feedback and package negative traits of kids to be common traits of kids, so just need to 'encourage' and work on them, like, being less careless with work, paying more attention in class, reading more, conversing more in Mandarin etc.janet_lee88:
I always attend with hubby...well, women can be sensitive and take it negative sometimes but when I asked hubby if he felt the points/tone mentioned are helpful or not, he told me that certain teacher gave useful ones while the other 2 were not...so it's not that I'm overly sensitive.
That's partly the reason why I was having second thoughts. My dh couldn't take leave to go with us. He was there to help control my tongue.
I have a different issue. Based on the remarks on the slips given, I felt the teachers might not be in line with me with regard to my expectations for my dd. I have a tendency to nitpick my dd's results in front of the teachers so didn't want to upset myself and the teachers. It's my bad habit. However, dh thinks we should go as a way of showing support that we are working together with the teachers.
But I stil go every year in case of any issues that T may have observed and I'm not aware, espy relationships with classmates, presentations in class, and their competencies as compared to their peers etc. -

Ya, I am trying to get DD to come up with a time-table too. I've been saying this for the longest time, since DD was in P1, but somehow, the time-table never materialised. He tinks I'm not doing enough with dem. Coz both results thus he gave me the cold shoulders last nite :torchme:
But i conditioned him dat studies is not everything but he doesn't tink likewise.
He was ultra upset with my P5's results sayin in his days, not poss to get such lousy grades :gloomy:
So I hv to go devise timetable like E3 and Janet and show him la. If not sure get :spank:
Ha ha, but now, I'm looking 4wd to next week's break of fun and play! :imanisland: :celebrate:
Yes, in the meantime, let's let our hair down and enjoy the one week holiday! As Stephen Covey says in his 7th Habit... Let's \"Sharpen our Saw\"!!! Only then do we have the energy and stamina to \"cheong\" hard for SA1. :celebrate: :celebrate: -

I am hoping for the same this year too! -

Good for you. Maybe being a SAHM, I already know my dd inside-out so I don't need to listen to ๅฎขๅฅ่ฏ. Just say that I am very pragmatic and task-oriented, so I need constructive information, not decorative.

Soli janet, I'm not implying that you are in any way.

You sure it's ONLY a little here and there? Whoa that must be the understatement of the year ..... :laugh:Oops! No la, the topics just happen to interest me, so I participated a little here and there lor...

Poor mama. DDs didn't do well but mama gets the blame. Don't know whether if my ds doesn't do well, dw will give me the same treatment or not? :?He tinks I'm not doing enough with dem. Coz both results thus he gave me the cold shoulders last nite

I actually prefer that negative feedback not be grossed over. I find negative feedback that is straight to the pt and supported by examples to be of the most value. Even if I don't agree, I'll keep quiet or just pretend to act surprise.I tink it really depends on Ts style, some are v encouraging and positive, so they only give gd feedback and package negative traits of kids to be common traits of kids, so just need to 'encourage' and work on them, like, being less careless with work, paying more attention in class, reading more, conversing more in Mandarin etc.

The reason why I brought it up was not cos my dd got it incorrect, it's because I felt that the English language is so subjective and also it really depends on one's opinion of the correct answer. Last year, there was one question from the P2 SA2 EL OE comprehension, my dd changed her answer after some thought and got that correct. Only a few students got the answer right so you see, most kids might think simply and write down what they think at first glance. For those who think deeper and analysed the question, they can change their \"fate\"...not so serious lah.... :lol:IJJ:
After reading it, I still standby (1). I think it is more appropriate because there is someone wanting to know(ply) more information. Secretive workable, but 'tight-lipped' has more 'feel' in it.
Agree! Actually I thought the answer was pretty obvious... and DD chose (1 tight-lipped) as the answer. Didn't realise the complexities until I see it being brought up here. Hehehe!

Anyway, for this question, my dd also thought of the first answer at first, cos it's straightforward like you said, but she read too much into it and chose (2). Well...at least she was thinking and I know as long as she keeps thinking, she'll ultimately learn the right skill, and not go wrong.
