Sun, from my limited nuclear knowledge, if the pressure container is intact, leakage will be very minor and temporary. So,it seems reactor 2 is at the highest risk because there is chance the pressure container is broken. Even so, judged by current development, it means Japan will have a harder time to clean the site. The situation is messier if the core has melted. For leakage to spread out far enough, the site needs to be on fire for a few days.

            Thanks for the clarification, 30plus.
\"Your limited knowledge\" is better than my limited knowledge.

            🙏 the damage is minimum.

Thank you for being a voice of reason. Ignorance breeds fear. And I am IGNORANT!! Do continue to update with your knowledge. It makes me feel A LOT better.

Meanwhile, I will also pray. That'll make me feel better too!!

I panicked when I received the same msg and forwarded it to my sister and niece who are there.

My sister replied to say that she got the same sms 2 days ago .... thats when I suspected the msg was not genuine :x

It's terrible that there are inconsiderate pple who will spread such hoax in times of crisis like this...

This tragedy in Japan really made me realised how fragile human lives are when it comes to natural disasters, and how blessed we all are.

My heartfelt prayer to the Japanese during this difficult time... 🙏

In an related event, recently there was some noises from the govt side about looking at alternative energy sources; and one of the options being seriously studied was nuclear. Guess this disaster puts a nail in the coffin of that one, at least for the next 20 years.

In big countries, at least they can evacuate further inland. In S’pore, where are we to retreat in the event of a similar calamity? Come to think about it, in the event of a war, won’t all these nuclear stations be mega timebombs waiting to be attacked? Am I being ignorant too? I certainly hope so.
