DS has his good friend from ex-kindy for company during piano practice in recess time daily so he looks forward to it. He usually spends 45 min-1 hr on the piano at home every night w/o prompting. I also have no idea why he can be so automatic in this case. Maybe he doesn't take learning the piano as work but more as play.
But he's not advance in terms of grades in case you're wondering, despite learning for close to 3 yrs already. He haven't started learning classical music yet so will only be ready to take grade 1 exam end of the year at the earliest. I've told his piano teacher of my wish to only let ds take the exams when she's confident that he'll get a distinction. I wanted him to build a strong foundation first so that hopefully he can do well at higher grades; so he's in for the long haul.
For music, I reckoned that I can afford to be non-kiasu, keke. After all, I've quite a few friends who after reaching grade 8, never touched the piano again as they hated the parental expectation of passing exams quickly. I certainly don't wish for ds to end up in the same situation. He can take up to P6 to pass grade 3 for all I care; as long as he continues to enjoy it

Haha, personally I observed that ds has become naughtier since he entered primary sch; though he did mentioned that there are some P2 boys who are bullies and he stays away from them.

[quote=\"dyh\"]I found that the ICAS standard is very high...especially for English it is higher than PH standard. For MA and SC, also quite challenging. So I let my son take them for exposure.
Not too sure abt the std, but am quite sure the scope of MA and Sc is beyond our classroom coverage at the time of sitting for these tests.
So to do well, can print sample copies of the ICAS test papers from the official ICAS website or buy from the S'pore ICAS branch (think it is International Plaza).
