All About Child Immunisation

buds:
i heard of this for some polyclinic, but for sengkang polyclinic, for infant especially, we always finish everything within an hour, from waiting to jab/checking and taking medicine if any.But the waiting time is hell long! Today's registration, my number was 200 away! :yikes:
Can you believe it! Just to register that we are there.. And the irony is, we are on appointment
basis! :frustrated:
After about 70 ppl passed the queue number when i realized the registration area is getting
more packed with sick people and there i was STILL waiting with baby.. So i got up,
went up to a counter with the lady who was just done gossiping with another beside her..
asked her point blank, \"Do i really hafta wait for 200 people to go for my scheduled appt?\"
Apparently, another lady in civilian clothing perhaps a manager or some sort took my queue
number, went to another vacant counter and requested to sign me in immediately.. As the
appt time has beyond passed (due to such a looonnng wait) i had to wait some more like
another half hour. But at least i was amongst other parents and babies as well who were
there for immunisation and not a room packed with patients. Lucky today no follow up with
doctor's appt. Or else gotta wait another hour! :faint: After bb jab, wait another hour
to see doctor.. can imagine? http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/skype-emoticons.html Dunno wat to say oredi..
even now, my DS is 1.yo 3 mth, we jst took MMR last Friday, 30mins all done.cos we always take the first one. maybe coincidently they have that number for us. -
Infant yes fastest. But only for 0-2mths old.
Come 3rd mth onwards, no more special privilege.
I do agree that perhaps since you're first no such probs.
But only 1 person gets to go first no?
Lucky you then.. :hugs: -
opps… yeah… so far my experience is ok. hee… anyway, my DS left with one last jab with polyclinic. the rest optional are taken with PD outside.
-
Yeah.. am thinking to take the optional ones outside if need be.
The nurse said today that the pneumococcal one can use medisave.
Will find out from our family doc whether the same can be done at his
place..

My DH (19mth) didn’t wait so long at Bedok Polyclinic. The most was 1 hour from the appt time.
-
My baby missed his 4 month vaccinations coz he has been sick for several weeks ( had to cancel appointment three times coz of one illness after another). He is going to be 5 months in a week! How long can the immunizations be delayed? One PD said try not to delay longer than two weeks. Another said, it’s ok. Gotta get better first. Anyone else here has been caught in my position?
-
Yes. Me… when i rescheduled, the person over the line also agreed that the bb shud
be fully recovered on jab day. Mine was one case of fever… so if the jab shud have
any fever response, i wouldn’t know if it was from jab or the stubborn fever that
has yet subsided much. Didn want to take the risk. But to ease your thoughts
u can still find out from the nurse or doc whether it is fine to do so. In my
case, was advised delayed was still better than don’t take. Then again,
u want to know how much delay is ok hor? Now where’s that health
chap when i need him… ooohh 3Boys… yoohooo… question for u… -
Hi buds!
Sorry I MIA, I was on a long vacation with family and just returned.
The immunization schedules can be as much an art as a science. It varies from immunization to immunization, and on the whole, there is no real rush and if one is unwell, there is little risk in delaying until one is better. Please do not take this post as medical advice and do consult your doc. -
i just took my dd for her vaccination last weekend. hers was in fact late liao. she is now 4mths old & she just took her 1st 6-in-1 jab. in fact b4 hand, when i took her to this clinic, the GP refused to jab for my dd, saying she is already late in vaccination & told me to seek PD advise. my hubby said this GP kaisi but also cannot blame him cos he go by law... :nunchuk:
so hubby & i called up 4other clinics(GP & PD) & all confirmed my dd still can take her 1st 6-in-1 jab @ 4mths but cannot delay any longer, ve to do it immediately.
the reason why my dd was late in vaccination because when she was 1mth old, she had flu/running nose den follow by fever, so we had to wait until she recovered. -

Thanks for your comments! We finally brought him for his 4 month jab at 5 months plus (6weeks late) and 5 month jabs at 6 months plus. DS3's nose was still drippy and he was still coughing, but the PD assessed that it was OK to take the jabs. The lesson for me was to bring the sick baby in anyway and let the doc assess his condition. If he really isn't well enough, the doc can treat the illness and skip the jab. The receptionists tend to be conservative and will tell you to skip.
