      Schweppes,

I am not that crazy over LC. I am into kitchen gadgets and stuff, esp ever since i sent my maid away. After rushing home from work, I better have nice pot and pans to work with and cook like Nigella in 30 min. For the amount of $ i have invested, it is well worth it considering the money i have saved versus if the whole family eats out. Not to mention about health.

For cast iron cooking, a good brand to consider is Lodge. It works just as well minus the pretty color. In fact i have wanted Staub over LC. It is cheaper and has better reviews but for some strange reason (guess less popular) it is much more expensive over here in SG.

I have not considered a targine as i feel it takes up too much space (height wise). There is mixed reviews for LC Targine. A better brand would be Emile Henry. Targine is usually made of clay which gives its robust flavour which many argue cannot be achieve with cast iron. However, using a cast iron base will allow one the searing of meat. In place of a targine, i got a LC casserole (or braiser in US). Serve the same purpose minus the high conical cover. Do give feedbacks should u try out a targine.

For those who are interested in LC pots/pans, decide on the color and model u want. Hold on and look out for sales. Tangs, Robinsons, Isetan and Taka have sales for LC every week. I myself own 2 LC grills. A rectangle one in flame which is the 1st one i started off. Then a few years later a reversible grill cum griddle at only $90!!!! Instead of using the griddle to make pancake, as an asian my griddle is used to BBQ stingray in foil. Brainless, clean and splatter proof.

:offtopic: Now the gadget i am into is my Lekue steamer. Well steamed, sealed food in a microwave oven minus the toughness.

:thankyou: b2b3m4 for sharing. :hugs: Wow, looks like you have a lot of kitchen toys too and best of all, you know your gadgets too :ugogirl:

Know what you mean about getting good quality kitchen gadgets to help u with your cooking and more importantly, make life easier for a working mom. I can identify with that too. :hi5:

Uh... don't think I'll be getting the tagine anytime soon. It's very tempting, but a bit too pricey and indulgent :moneyflies: so must practise self-control :imconstipated:

Now I know who to look for when I want advice for kitchen gadgets. :dancing:

(On an aside, sometimes I imagine cooking beef or chicken in the tagine, served with greek salad and accompanied by iced cool hibiscus drink  )

I have 3 (30cm round, 27cm oval and 15cm round) as I totally believe in this product. It cooks every evenly! A tad heavy to wash, but totally worth every cent! By the way, I only believe in the classic orange colour.

I must say that I am totally pleased with my LC pot. Am very happy with the way the food has turned out. Family seems to think that the food tastes better too. (Either that, or maybe my cooking has improved :skeptical:  ) Good investment to have in the kitchen. šŸ˜‰
