All About Ballet

Village Girl:
Really learnt a lot of this forum. Didnt know ballet is an avenue to DSA too. My elder girl skipped primary level and go directly to Grade 1. Think she has a merit for that...this year will be grade 2 (P2 this year). Must let her get at least grade 5 then.
My younger girl skipped primary and Grade 1 level. She will be taking grade 2 this year. Will it affect?
Not at all, as long as grade5 cert is submitted with the DSA application form in order to get the chance for 1st audition. -
much earlier on, someone post a qn … should choose ballet or Chinese dance ? i think the answer is … if possible, both.

phtthp:
RGS doesn't have DSA via Dance. They do offer Dance as a CCA once you enter the school.Yes, many parents nowadays select CCA as a beneficial form of DSA entry into Secondary schools. They don't anyhow choose CCAs for their kids.
1) for singing and dance related CCAs:-
=======================
example:
a) NYGH (Nanyang girls High) -
it's Chinese cultural dance, not ballet.
b) RGSS (Raffles girls Sec)
it's Rhythmic gym (RG), or ballet, but not Chinese dance.
c) SCGS (Singapore Chinese girls Sec)
d) MGS and St Nick - not sure.
anyone know ?
2) how about violin, gu zheng, piano ?
any Secondary school allow DSA entry via musical string instruments ?
MGS has Dance DSA. -
Hi mummies,

If she's going to turn havoc she'll turn havoc even in NCC.
I think it's more important to see if she has the passion for it and if the passion will last her through Sec 4. I know of a girl who DSA'd via ballet but who was always benched during school performances and competitions, so never got a chance to perform/compete. She lost interest very quickly and was bored in her Dance CCA but had no choice but to stay on bec she DSA'd in via Dance. Worse still, she couldn't chalk up CCA competition points.
