going by distance only will only drive up property prices (which only the rich could afford) and transforms an elite school into a TRULY ELITE SCHOOL which only the rich could attend. now is that fair?

this might not affect you if you are already staying near to the school but others will definitely cry foul and more problems will arise.

just because the school is surrounded by hdb doesnt mean the residents there are not going to jack up the prices of their units. so how?

I'm curious, how did you get the figures that quite a number of vacancies in the earlier phases are taken up by PRs. If you have the numbers, could you post it by phases?

The current system is unfair to Singaporeans. Should allow Singaporeans to register in all phases from Phase 1 - 2C using the current model. Strike off PRs from Phase 1 - 2C and put them under 3, 3A etc (maybe 3 for existing siblings in schools, 3A for old students) unless the schools can justify that they are needed in areas of work that Singaporeans can't perform under 2B. By doing this, Singaporeans regardless where they live still get the same priorities if they are old students, PVs, etc. However, there will definitely be more places to go around under 2B and 2C.

all educational needs of fellow Singaporean born kids must be met FIRST!.

PR needs must queue up AFTER all Singaporean kids had enrolled.
Then it's fair. After all, this is our country SINGAPORE!

Don't think any one/school will release the figures without MOE's approval but one should be able to tell that they do take up the vacancies that could have been offered to the Singaporeans. If you go to Jurong and stand outside any of the schools/child care centres, you will know what I mean.

Maybe some parents who are PVs will be able to tell us if there are PRs PVs in their batch. Personally, I have friends who have been complaining that there are a couple of PRCs PRs in one of the top primary schools. I have an Indian friend who has been in Sg for 16 years. Still a PR and son attends Princess Elizabeth.

Oh yes, there is a quota for PRs to be grassroot leaders. Though there is a quota, they can still be one and go under Phase 2B.

Having said all these, we do need to be sensitive towards the issues that may arise if PRs are to be placed after Singaporeans. I am not into politics, thus don't want to crack my brain as to what issues may arise. However, I am upset that as a loyal Singaporean, I am not given priority in registration vs PRs (some PRs even override me and register in earlier phases).

If they scrapped P2A2 then all the ex-student will join alumni. so really don't make any difference unless they allow non ex-student to join the alumni

i believe sooner or later, p2a1 and p2a2 woud be put together and the no. vacancies after phase 1 will be split equally among p2a1+p2a2(combined group), p2b and p2c these 3 groups and any balloting required will be according to distance.

By not joining alumni is not abuse becos the rule allows it. How about ex-student who are just 13yos, they have to join alumni too?

I do agreed with you somehow.
With a 2 chance of balloting slip is meant to me none if I dun even have the chance to ballot.
Anyway, this exercise needs to carry on for this year, now grumble a bit too late. This can only be improve in future, whether to strike off phase 2B or whether Singaporean given priority.
This system definitely making parents to be KS.
