2011 P1 Registration Exercise for 2012 In-Take

Somehow all these cloning talk about shifting senior teachers from HQ to branches make them seem like chess tokens to be moved as and when we like it. I wonder how many NY teachers staying near the sch look forward to travelling the four corners of the island to work?
Say if Frontier Primary now is given the name Nanyang, I still doubt that it will get the same HEAT as Nanyang. Probably, not until the first 6 years (until the first few batches of PSLE students) are out, would parents gradually decide if they would put their kids (read be convinced and trust) in the Nanyang II or III or IV branch..
Actually there's a vile implication in all these talk. If we say we need to relocate teachers from popular schs - like chess pieces - to take up leadership roles in new schs, are we implying indirectly that teachers in neighbourhood schs are not up to par?
To me, a sch teacher who spends time working with weaker students deserves more credit than the another who only wants to work with high achievers. -

I think they do and will advise accordingly towards the end of the registration process, e.g. when registered > vacanciesmarkfch:
24 have registered at nanhua this morning. The school refuses to disclose the number by distance.
Imho I feel that all schs should disclose the figures by distance so that PVs can mentally prepare to activate their plan B if necessary.
In the initial part, they may not be able to forecast.
Some parents do wait til towards the end of the registration day before applying.
do u know how many PVs at Nan Hua? -
LOLMum
Yes! Many want brand name nevermind is just another branch. Can impress others during CNY’s visiting. -

What I mean is that if we open up 10 NUS (force HQ to open 9 other branches and adopt the same materials, teaching methods, spread the lecturers, set same exams etc), does that mean that 4 yrs down the road, we'll get 10 times the amount of local talents of equal calibre to serve our economy?
sorrie but i dun quite get yr illustration. wat i m saying is instead of MOE opening a brand new school eg Frontier Primary, why dun they replicate schools that are always short of vacancies. Instead of trying to start from scratch building up another RGPS or Anderson, which is like trying to reinvent the wheel every time, why not just try to adopt the best practices of RGPS, Anderson, ACPS etc. They can call it eg Anderson AMK, Anderson Jurong etc.
Essentially this is what I interprete you're saying. I merely illustrate it at a tertiary level. -

These teachers are a minority and they are spread across all schools. Personally know of several including a PSC-MOE Scholar. -

Just out of curiosity, hope that you share your view on this point.
Some of us feel that similar to your idea above are schools like CHIJ and ACS with their branches. Since they share the same name as the HQ, what is your opinion on the disparity in popularity? -

u misunderstood me.g2m6:

so basically what you want is just the name, must be a branded name like acs, rgps, mgs, scgs etc and not any other.
not just the name but the school system, the school spirit, the teaching methods, the school enviornment, the syllabus, the best practices etc. Which is why i mentioned a need for some of the experienced staff from the original school to go hand held the new teachers and staff so that they can hopefully have another RGPS, ACPS, Anderson Pri etc. It would be take much easier than trying to start from scratch.
i not not suggesting close down ALL schools and have 1 master system. What i am suggesting to to let schools that cant cope with any additional enrolment to open up another campus working closely with the original school.
think about it. a school like acps. founded in 1886. how many students does it have over the past decades and centuries? unless we increase its enrolment more and more people will be deprived of a ACPS education the ACPS experience in future. but there is space constrains to how many pupils can be housed in a single location. So a possible option is for ACPS to try to have another location or multiple locations eg Jurong. This also serve the interest of those who used to stay in Bt Timah but now say stay in Jurong.
i dun mean making all 180 schools in spore to become like RGPS or ACPS or Anderson Pr. But is spore not big enuf to have say 2 ACPS? 3 SCGS? 2 Henry Park? As the alumi population increase and due to immigrants, sooner or later some alumni will be deprived of a vacancy in their alm mater for their children unless the school expand and we all know there is a space constrain here and so unless there is more than 1 campus there is a limit of how many old boys and old girls can let their children study in their alm mater. -

Sad to know that they are the minority :gloomy:
Please express my gratitude to those you know personally! They are really a gem! :please:
:thankyou: -
RRMummy:
i am sure ACJS vacancies will also all be taken up during the later phases.g2m6:
