      Dear Mantaray,

      Thanks for sharing with us.

I can empathise with how you and your family feel. Have you managed to find an alternative school? With dedication and sound parental support I am sure your child will do well in whichever school. On the same line, I hope other Rosyth PVs who were balloted out to not despair, well, life is full of unfairness and can be unkind, we have to accept that and move on.

I recall my friend who is a current PV mentioning that the PVs are aware of the reduction in intake this year and a few are even aware of the GRC boundary changes. Do you have any idea how many of the 1km vacancies go to grassroot leaders this year? The school didnt disclose. I hope your updates would provide a clearer picture to those aiming at Rosyth that the competition for vacancies within 1km would be extremely intense next year onwards and be mentally prepared.

      All the best.

        Hi Mantaray,

I feel for you. Ask yourself. If you had known 2 years back that the number of intake would be reduced to x and the number of GRLs would be y, would you still have agreed to be a PV?

I wonder if it would be a better system if Phase 2B is taken away totally. ie after 2A2, the remaining vacancies is used for 2C, with balloting conducted according to distance.

If we really go down to it, Phase 2B is used to institutionalise showing favouritism to a certain group of people.

            SmartDad,

You talking about Rosyth? For the past few years, balloting in phrase 2C were only for those <1km.
            Dreamygal,

Many thanks for your information. Look like the reduction of intake this year has made many parents (PV, GRL) dissappointed.

              -  the change in political boundaries for Rosyth to be transferred from Aljunied to AMK GRC heard that there is significnt increases in grassroot applications.  MOE should have made us aware.
I thought this year's registration is based on pre-GE boundaries?

Thanx everyone for your notes of encouragement. The rosyth pv registration started more than two years back before were aware of the political boundary changes and reduced intake. If i had known, the odds would be clear and i would not do pv there.

We heard that the grassroot list is very long this year. We also heard that if they did not cut the thirty places at the eleventh hour, all the pvs should be in.

I know life can be unfair, but this is more akin to being cheated. They knew , they didnt tell and made us do pv. If i did pv at other nearby prestige schools at 40hrs , i am confirmed in. But now at 150odd hrs i hv practically no fighting chance. And also lost a chance at the nearby prestige schools.

Yes if the system is fairer. But although they reg years bk, the grl can use the current political as well.

                        mantaray,

                        Can understand your frustration.
Anyway, life goes on. May be a Blessing in disguist. I have a few friends whose children grad. from or still in Rosyth. No big deal . The ones whose grad. scored only 22X . Those currently in Rosyth- mum said the goods teacher are in GEP classes. She also has a lot of complaints about the school.
like myself, I have went tho interview at pei chun and got selected as PV.
But decided against it as I stayed out of the 2km. As in the past, the sch gauranteed a place for PV once got selected. But the principal change the policy and accepted more PV and for those who stayed out of 2km may not even get a chance to ballot.
More important, is the child. Prepare your child. who know.!! Your child may get in to the GEP class and your can proudly transfer him/her to Rosyth .
