My colleague explained to me in detail what she went thru for balloting last fri. There were shouts of jubilation, cries of anguish, bouts of bewilderment, hugs of solidarity, all happening within the compressed time of less than 10 min. Unless one is masochistic, I believe no one would want to live thru that kind of emotional torture a second time.
I also thought all along not guaranteed. A PH PV may have called the reporter to blow up the issue. Regardless what it is, I still hope that any parent will not need to go through balloting 2X.
However having said that, we must all admit that we went in with our eyes opened. The registration rules were spelled out upfront, P2B is never guaranteed.
If we cannot stand the stress of losing out, then by all means don't participate in balloting. At least in this part of the island, I can say that we stand a high chance of enrolling our kids into a good sch like BTPS without any need for balloting. So we cannot say that we were forced to ballot. Is that is fair statement?
To cut a long story short, we're not insensitive to the stress of balloting. Personally I do wish that people can understand that in balloting, there'll be 'winners' and 'losers'; and be willing to accept whatever outcome of their choice gracefully.
Btw, I didn't read the newspaper article because my chinese CMI. What I posted here is just a general statement. -

the question is why she complained about the 100 hrs she needed to fulfill when she already got a place in PH without balloting....if you read from the report, she already moved to within 1km of PH....so why complain now? she can don't accept the offer when the school asked her to do....

I agree that one must be willing to accept whatever outcome of their choice. However, there are always some who are not willing to accept it gracefully, and thus, wrote to MOE, complain to the press, etc.
To be on the safe side, maybe schools should not accept too many PVs because Phase 1 & 2A are quite unpredictable.
Actually I also don't know how good BTPS is cos none of my neighbours' children or grandchildren are in this school. I do know that their CCA choices are quite good. A pity that it's location makes it an unpopular school.
Was quite upset initially when a friend's husband made this remark, \"Urh. . BTPS? Nobody wants to register.\", when I told him my backup is BTPS. However, after second thought, I am glad that this school is within 1km of my place and very sure we do not need to ballot.
By the way, what is CMI? -

PH should just take away the place from the parent who complained. It goes against the spirit of volunteering! :mad:
