I understand that from next year onwards (since they are moving to the new campus), it will be just morning session - 7.40am - 1.30pm. That's what the folks at ACSJ told me during the 2B registration. Can anyone enlighten me if ACS junior has 2 sessions (am and pm) or 1 day session now ?

I sort of share your feeling. In my case, it was MBS. My auntie said that she had to queue at 3am just to get my cousin in MBS. Meanwhile for me, someone in the family passed away when i was 6 yrs old. So my mum and I for some reason always hang out at a temple near Jln Senang. A monk (dunno his position,etc...) mistook me for a boy as I was very chubby and boyish so he always disturb me. Out of the blue, he asked my mum which school am I going and my mum told him I want to go to MBS (simply becoz another child i play with also goes to MBS). The monk apparently had connections there and he recommended me to MBS. It was the last 2 seats left. Some rich relative who couldn't get his daughter in MBS in the same year claimed that my mum gave the school $, etc...which is really untrue.
On the other hand, I didn't appreciate or enjoy myself there as felt it was filled with kids from well-to-do family. I told myself I won't send my kids there unless I am doing well in life.
But now, though we hold properties within 1km of TNS and Holy innocent, I choose to send my kids to MBS because I didn't even have to worry about not getting a place. It was a relief as I've seen parents crying on TV during balloting and I know I dun want to go through that as it's a very stress process for the parents.
At the same time, with MBS not accepting PV and Singapore buddhist federation no longer accepting individual membership, I think we made the right choice. I am starting to really thank god and count our blessings. Also, thanks my mum for it as she played a role. Also my girl enjoys MBS very much so it was a good choice after all.ChiefKiasu:
Did you bring your kid along for the balloting? You should.2bbtang:
...Couldn't sleep the whole of last night!!! THis is worst than any exams or interviews or even any presentation that I have in my life!!! Ha! Ha! Some parents was sharing that when you heard your child name been called out, the feeling is even better than winning a lottery!!! Although I have never nor do I bet on any gambling... but the feeling of knowing that I have secured a seat for my boy is Really overwhelming!...
I've never won any lottery in my life, and I say I no longer need to anymore, because I won the most important lottery in my life when I was 6 years old.
I come from a not-so-well-off working class family, and my father and mother were both uneducated and clueless about schooling other than to send us to neighborhood schools in the MacPherson area. As a pre-school kid, I was lazy and unmotivated... failed all my exams in the PAP kindy and ended up last in class... not that I cared then.
Somehow, my mother got wind of an opportunity to send me to St. Andrew's Junior for P1. It was one of the top schools in the nation in the early 70s. So she packed me off one day and we made a trip down for the registration. Being a hot school, it was already the last stage of the registration exercise and they have to ballot because about 50 odd people were vying for only about 20 vacancies. The school hall was packed with people and the atmosphere heavy with anticipation. My mother's hand tightened around mine each time the name on the selected ticket was read, and loosened in disappointment when it wasn't mine. It went on and on for 19 times.
Mine was the last name to be called. I looked up and for the first time in my life, I saw tears streaming down my mother's face. It was at that moment that I finally realized how important this was to her and how much she loved me to go through all the trouble of getting through the system just to get me into that school. It was the turning point for me. I suddenly had a purpose in life, and that is to make the best use of this hard-won opportunity and to make my mother's effort all worthwhile. Throughout my life, whenever I have to do a major exam, project or presentation, I always recall this particular moment in my life and understand why I'm doing what I have to do. It was to make my mother proud of me. -

Spoke 2 many ACS parents. They said Acs Junior results definitely better compared to Primary. ACS Junior has Primary children only. But ACS Primary BarKer share with Secondary as well. I prefer all primary instead.. don't need to share tuckshop with Secondary school.
I also understand new ACS Junior is 3 times bigger compared to current school. They even have a Performing Art Centre! Impressive! I got the source from School.
Not only that, ACS J will even have a rifle range. Only one in singapore! This is what I call 'branded school' Haha! Both schools are just as difficult to get in. -
So, to get into ACS (J) or (PRI)ā¦(for non-alumni):
1) Within 1km
2) Prefereably with church affiliations since they need PV? -
cornucopia:
Yes, I had a choice of registering for either ACS Primary or ACS Junior since I was applying under 2B and am within 1km to both schools and I knew my chances of entering both schools were good (based on historical trends). Had decided on the latter because I like that ACSJ will be housed in a spanking new school with bigger and better facilities! Can't wait to see the school during the orientation in Nov[Moderator's Note: Topics merged.]

Just last Sunday, we just swinged by the new school to take a look. The school building really looks good! It is now about 75 - 80% done. Heard that they will be moving in there in end Oct or early Nov this year.

Hi,
Can someone tell me which methodist church ACSP and ACSJ are affiliated with? BRMC or any methodist church?
Thanks -
koppie:
Correct me if I'm wrong... As long as you are a member of any methodist Church, you can opt for any Methodist Primary School under Phase 2B. But of course, you have to choose school that is near to your house for higher chance of getting in.Hi,
