I tink ultimately depends on wat u try to achieve wif e course. In my case, my DD pester me 4 it so i juz thot of trying out. If aft e 4 yrs, she's still keen, we shall continue wif formal 1-1 piano. If not, she will at least develop some appreciation for music.

If u R more interested in grading, then I agree tat JMC is too slow paced & does not emphasis much on sight read & techniques. 😉

I was told by the teacher that you can start one-to-one concurrently with JXC. JMC is for ear training and if you’d like to go for more advanced piano skills or grading in the future, should go for one-to-one.

            Hi Micollh,
Just my own opinion - get the whole set for your DD esp the book - Yes it is the stickers that are the \"key\" thing 😂 ....It serves as a reward to the kid at or after the lesson so to encourage her :rahrah: :rahrah:

CD is more hearing purpose and it really trains the kid to listen and later on to play along with the CD......

My DD1 is into the 4th year (i.e. JXC 2nd year) and she has keeping all her books as she said these are her \"hard work\" & \"treasures\" 🕺 🕺

For my case, I bought those \"cheap & durable\" keyboard from kiddy palace for DD1 to \"play & practise\" in the 1st 1.5 year into Yamaha...In fact teacher encouraged to use piano so it only thereafter we bought her a piano and she being practising on it.....

No, I went to Cristofori Warehouse at Bedok Industrial Estate to buy a 2nd hand piece - parts made in Japan....Can't remember the exact price but recommended by the Sales to be used till at least Grade 6 😄

Yamaha uses Electone ELB-01 for JMC/JXC classes. I think brand new is >$3K.
For a start, a keyboard is enough for normal practice. Yamaha sells keyboards with price range of ~200+ to 300+. If your DD shows interest to pursue music later, you may want to consider getting a piano instead. For piano, I think Yamaha U1 (Japan made) is good enough but depends on your budget.
