Will now consider 2 other schools in the area but they wouldn't be within walking distance.

I'm trying to overcome my disappointment & anger (anger maybe not!), & would be as normal when fetching my child later in the evening.

Ultimately, I wouldn't want to show her my disappointment, and start her on a wrong footing by giving her impression that she would be going into a 2nd choice, inferior school...

This year is extremely trying for many. It is great to hear that despite your anger and disappointment, you are still very level-headed. As all parents, we have the best interest of our child to think of.

I know of many whom despite a disappointing registration last year, are very happy with their child's current school and progress now.

If you need info to access the other 2 schools, I'm sure many of us here can help or if not, direct you to the necessary threads.

That's a right attitude. You are doing the \"most\" right thing. To the child, the new school she is going to will mark her personal new phase of life. And she takes cue from her parents and friends what she should make out of it.

I too didn’t succeed in balloting. More disappointment than anything else. Balloting is all about luck. Now just have to move on to trying out Plan B next week. Have to face my child later and am sure the question about the school will come up. Just going to remain positive and calm…

@RRMummy: thanks. I know I am not alone. Just need to move on now and hope that our 2nd choice is worth our try and that we succeed next week! It’s just the beginning of a long journey…so stress level will go up starting next year!

On your question, there will be balloting if applicants exceeds vacancies.
There should be limited choices left, and within that will need to make another choice.
