Laurimar Glen Farmstay... google to find their new website.
        I got their number...

Do tell Eric and Janet hi if you get there...
We were there before the huge Mebourne fire in Jan 2008... it was freezing that week, adn 3 weeks after we left, it was burning - literally.

It is a real working farm... most dun have pick-up service.

What you do is you rent a car... the rental companies may pick you up. And then you rent the car and drive out. Few perculiarites in Melbourne include that in the city centre, to turn right, you have to be in the left lane. Observe well when you get into the city. Other things include a ERP toll system around the highways surrounding the city centre... find out how to pay the toll from the rental company.

            2010sunflower,

CALL Janet... from what I know, there was not internet in the farm, and in the house, your mobile phone has almost no reception! I had to step outside to SMS.

There are plenty to do in Melbourne... time constraint now, more later.

            Cheers!

              Hi MadScientist,

Janet has replied to my mail. May I ask did you take their meal package? They are charging $60 per adult and $30 per child daily. I think it is expensive. Are there any eateries or supermarket nearby the farm? Did you depart Singapore after the farmstay? If yes, how did you get to Melbourne international Airport? Thanks

They did not have a meal package there... There is a Woolys in the town near by that is about 5 mins drive... town that has a name starting with \"K\".
In the cottage we stayed in... there was a small kitchenette with a microwave and kettle... which we used extensively.

Lunch was usually out... so was dinner... mostly in town.

I cannot remember if there was a hotplate... too many farmstay cottages blur the picture for me now.

Yes, it looks a bit expensive... cos we got eggs from the chooks there... and bfast was simply half boiled eggs and cereal. Kids really cannot eat that much especially if they are <12.

You should be ok to be on your own for meals... maybe take a meal package for a day? I dunno...
Janet did invite us into the house and they kindly shared tea with us... it was very very unusual a farmstay really.

We went to the city first... then from the city I rented a car from Budget and we drove to the farm. Then returned the car at the airport.
IF you have AA membership... can check with them to arrange for you... they take some time but you can get some good rates particularly if you rent a week or more.

                Hope that helps!

                Cheers!

PS. during Cherry season... there are a number of cherry farms to buy cherries fresh and cheap from!

Oh... eating out anywhere in Australia is not cheap anyways...

It can be quite cold still... about 15oC.

We went there last June...winter time..breezy but no snowing at city. The helicopter ride cost us AUD 70 or 80 last year, to us is a once in a lifetime experience 😄 you will see a different view from top compare to on land....
