Oops! Apologies. Misread your reply. Anyway, I'm sure she'll do well enough at PSLE to go to the school of her choice. Prelims are over! Phew!

No pbm turquoise. Actually, we did not expect her to get thru. She is just above average but slowly improving. P5 was a difficult year for her as the success of my #1 in PSLE the year before left a negative impact on her. Friends and relatives made did not make things easier as comparisons are always being made. Even in school, she is known as the sister of #1 by some teachers. Being very sensitive, her confidence level was affected and started to drop. It showed clearly in the P5 SA1 and SA2 exams. It was sure a tough time for my wife and I as we tried to make her believe in herself and to stay focused. By god’s grace things started to get better this year and slowly we begin to see some light at the end of the tunnel.

I sure hope that she performs to the best of her ability. RGS is a far shot for her but looking at SCGS/ MGS, if she does well enough.

You’re right …what a relieve now, after the science paper this morning. But still not over yet,….Higher MT on Wed.

Hi Dharma, I’m sure with your encouragement your daughter will do well. Sometimes it’s best that the two sisters not study in the same school so as to minimise comparisons. SCGS and MGS are both excellent schools, both with School Based Gifted Programmes.

The top girl from 6F and at least 2 others from 6E received offers from RGS. Seems like very few from RGPS mainstream get in to RGS via DSA.

Just wondering, anyone has experience how the mainstream kids feel when they enter RGS with many GEP students around them? Is the pressure unbearable given that they have gone through different years of training in their P4-P6?

There’s only abt 200 gep girls each yr, not all will go to same school, mainstream students will still be the majority. Those enter RGS are high academic achievers, the mainstream gals might struggle a bit at first, with their abilities, should be able to cope in a few months. My sis’s church friend’s gal is coping well now.

Thanks for sharing. I overlooked that point that GEP girls only about 200. Good to know it is not so bad.

My girl is from mainstream and she is in RGS now. After the first few months of struggling, she is happy and coping well now.

I agree that the gals from mainstream would need more time to adopt, but they will soon fit in. Don’t worry, just give some support that they need, mainly how to do time management.

Hi, my girl was from main stream but as she scored above 280, she was placed in the GEP class in RGS.

She had a hard time initially definitely. As majority of the students in the class are from GEP, they already had their own click - RGPS click, ROXYTH click, NAN HUA click and so on and my girl was the only girl from her school. She felt lonely but with some encouragement for her to go mixing around, she finally managed.

As for the studies, she is ok.

Her advantage is, she can now mix with both - GEP or NON GEP. She is currently happy and mixing around with both GEP (her classmates) and non-GEP ( students from other classes) and she is still in the same GEP class in RGS - A HAPPY AND GO LUCKY GIRL !
