Thanks for the Spanish recommendation. Will go check it out. Me like tapas and paella.Hi Jtoh,
Have not tried Absinthe. Am excited to find so many foodies here.
I agree with Kissgurami on Jaan, I went there once but loved the food, the view
and the service.
I was thinking of trying Gunthers for french food. Anyone been there?
For Spanish food, Bodega Y Tapas. I went there once and the paella was not too bad.

I dined at The Disgruntled Chef. My favourites were the Chicken Liver Parfait and the Jamon Serrano. The Churros with Chocolate was yummy too.
I wanted to give the Baked Camembert a try but we ordered too many other dishes. -

Watch MasterChef the other day and realised that it is really easy to make Baked Camembert. U may consider to give it a try.
Ingredients
3 cloves garlic, peeled
1 Normandy Camembert in its box
2 tbsp red wine
Sprigs of fresh thyme
½ tbsp chopped flat leaf parsley
Freshly ground pepper
Method
Preheat oven to 200ā°C. Peel the garlic and pour hot water over it for about one minute. Remove and cut in half vertically. Remove plastic wrapping from Fromager des Clarines box. Pierce rind in six places and gently push the garlic cloves into the cheese. Pour over the wine, making sure it seeps into the cheese. Sprinkle with herbs and freshly ground pepper to taste. Place the cheese on an oven tray and bake for 10-15 minutes. Enjoy this delicious, gooey delight with fresh crusty bread and some good red wine. -

Just to share my own experience, though some are not that recent.
Garibaldi - Went a few years back. Food is good but not as nice as Jaan.
Jaan - Went for set lunch few months back and it's one of the best meals I ever had. We were there on a Monday and since we were quite early for lunch (12.30pm), we had the whole restaurant and the attention of all the staff to ourselves. Will definitely go again if budget allows :boogie:
Shaslik - One of my regular haunt. Not for a romantic night out but go if you are after good food. Shaslik of beef and dessert highly recommended.
Ippudo - Nice ramen and cheese cake. Need I say more?
Etna - Just tried this out recently. The original restaurant is in the East but I went to the newer one at Duxton. Just go with what is recommended. Portions are big so do take it easy when ordering. -
So many reviews on Jaan. I should go try it out one day.

Was at Wild Rocket for dinner this week-end. Iām quite traditional and unadventurous with food, so when i first looked at the menu, I was likeā¦oh dearā¦dunno what to orderā¦the food looked a bit strange and I was afraid I wouldnāt enjoy it.
Itās actually very interesting, e.g. squid-ink risotto with salted fish, bak-kut teh consommĆ© with pork dumplings, duck confit with fried yam cake, deep-fried soft-shell crab in a balck pepper sauce and granny smith apples, lamb tandoori with yoghurt, chendol ice-cream with shaved Gula Melakaā¦
The meal turned out really yummy. Iām not a food critic, so I canāt wax lyrical about the flavours and textures. All I know is that I ended up really enjoying the meal. -
Yep, Wild Rocket has some nice dishes.

Mandarin Court - Dim Sum Lunch
Went for Dim Sum Lunch on the weekend and wasnāt too impressed
The "xiao long bao" was a little too big and the folds werenāt delicate or prominent. The broth and meat were nice so no complains.
The pancake with pork floss is nice. "Glutinous rice in wrapped in Lotus Leaves" - so so. Ee Fu noodles - Nice but enough to feed 4 people. Beef in black pepper sauce - err⦠Crystal Jadeās taste much nicer, Har Gao - average
Overall - Dim Sum Experience wasnāt what I would expect from a premium chinese restaurantā¦
Ambience and view is nice though
