All About Preparing For PSLE

My youngest girl is P5 this year. She failed her Science. Math and English around the 60 range. For higher chinese and chinese, she’s quite strong and is able to get more than 80 marks.
I got a tutor for her English but didnt get for the other two subs as I couldnt find one for her. The english tutor doesnt teach math and science for P5.
I got her to practice exam papers and assessment books. She does it and almost correctly but her grades doesnt improve.
She wants me to get her a tutor but I couldnt find… Any suggestions?
Tips to practice the right way?
Thanks.

Best way is to conduct some diagnosis and find out where the weak areas are. For example, with Science, it it about remembering facts? or classifying facts, or relating facts? or understanding experimental variables? or explaining scientific phenomenon. Similarly, for maths. I have a chapter in my book "PSLE Survival Guide for the Family" that talks about doing such diagnosis, which we did at the end of P5 for my ds. This might mean going through all the test papers from school, and so on. Very often, the child can quickly point out where the weakness occurs.
There are different kinds of assessments. Some easy, some difficult. So, you need to be selective about what you buy. Something slightly more challenging is always better.
Also check if the child is able to handle exam phobia. Maybe the child knows everything, but once exam comes, the mind is blank. So, when trying out assessment, set a time limit for completing the paper and similar conditions. -
My son did not do well for his chineses for prelims. He got a B. He used to be able to get As. Now quite worried. I was thinking of hiring a extra tutor for him on top of his normal chinese hols just for these few weeks. But worried that it would make him very stressed. Anyone has suggestions?

Hi, think is better find out the area that lost marks as we understand the 200 marks (100%) are made out by a few components.
Now left with the following since the oral already over:
Listening compre - 20 marks
Paper 1 :CL Compo. - 40 marks
Paper 2 : 90 marks (can break down either MCQ or open & end)
Then focus on the weaker area. -

Thank you! Thats very kind of you ;))Dear Parents,
I understand from supplier that many schools have not returned the prelim exam papers to the students! As such, there might be a delay in them selling the papers this year.
So, I've decided to collate & post them for free on my website so all of us can benefit (your kids & my students).

Like what you said, the school has not even returned the prelim papers - how to supply to you to collate? I'm also one of those parents waiting eagerly for the papers, and my DS school has not even return any!!! -
The schools may be holding back the prelim papers so that the papers don’t make their way to Jeremy and other exam paper vendors.
