Any parents whose dd/ds is in P5 class TAS(AMK)? Which tutors are the better ones? Any information from any1? TIA

Hi PiggyLalala,
My ds is in P6, he used to be in the P5 class in AMK under teacher May-Ann. Now he is also under her at Bukit Timah. He will really listen to her and she is the type of teacher that can win the respect of the naughty students (my boy falls into this category) but also keep them in line. Ds would make sure that
his TAS homework is done, his things filed up, his spelling learnt, she is strict
but somehow can win him. I used to have a headache finding a teacher
for him as he would switch off during the lessons or
not bother to do the homework but he respects and likes this teacher so
I am very happy about that.
She will give me very detailed feedback and ds was telling me that her compo teaching is rather funny, he is able to picture the whole story and make it
funny for the mundane compos because she taught them to use humour for these topics.
There is also another teacher, teacher Joy, that is teaching P5 at AMK. She is good and can teach well. Teacher May-Ann is stricter but teacher Joy is
more the buddy buddy type. So it depends on which teacher suits your child. -
Hi,
Anyone knows when we can sign up for TAS’s 2012 classes? Not sure if it is mentioned already but the threads move so fast, I do not have time to look through earlier threads. Can anyone help? -

How timing that I found this thread… TLL had called me to confirm a place for my kid but he has been enjoying the lesson in TAS. After much thinking, we decide to forgo TLL and continue his lesson in TAS but placed him in more appropriate class slot.
If anyone needs referral in TAS, pls pm me. -

noticed a lot of reviews on TAS but not much on TLL.. does that mean TAS is better (or more popular) than TLL? am considering registering DS for TAS AMK (P3) next year. thanks! How timing that I found this thread... Not sure which is better. I feel they are different. TLL’s materials focus on current affairs. They also give the children a list of difficult vocab words to choose from in their compositions. The children learn a wide variety of vocab words in this way. children at TLL will pick up more knowledge about current affairs and this could help to develop their thinking skills. This is what my friend tells me. Her child is at TLL.
My child is at TAS. The way they teach compo is to teach the child how to build tension in the plot, how to vary their sentences, how to ‘show’ emotions and not just state it. They guide more in their compo teaching. For their paper 2, I find that they have certain techniques that they use that can be quite effective in helping the child to improve.
I cannot say for sure which is better, just that they are different and children have different learning styles. I do know of some children at TAS that also go to TLL. One of them told me she wants the best for her kid. TAS is good at techniques and compo teaching and TLL has good current affairs materials and a lot of GEP students. -
I believed that different enrichment centre that have its own teaching style that might cater to the children’s learning ability.
The best it would be let the child go there for a trial first before deciding to take up the lesson. -
Hi Momresource, I need referral as I will be signing up for my girl this OCT at bt. Timah for P1 class.
Can you kindly email me details on what the discount is like?

Hi any mummies whose kids are in the P1 class…would like to find out more about this school as I intend to sign my DD up for P1 class this OCt in Bt. Timah.
Do they give good foundation for grammar to the kids??
Is the homework too much to handle (knowing they have spelling to learn as well in TAS apart from their school spelling).
Hope to get some advise.
Thanks!
Hope to hear some
