Implementing changes so fast? I thought it was scheduled for 2013?

So glad to know there are more kids who like and enjoy learning Chinese nowadays. My kids enjoy Chinese greatly too. :rahrah:

        poppy15:

        js saw DS's 教学大纲

they have 书写汉字,学习句子,学习听写,学习填充,学习看图造句,学习组词成句,学习词语配对, 学习理解问答, 学习看图说故事.. :yikes:

        and many more... 😓

in my time... if i remember correctly... where got so much to learn in K2 one... :faint:

That is a lot of Chinese that your son's kindy is covering. I can't remember my son's kindy doing as much. As a matter of fact, I don't think I saw him do any Chinese kindy homework except for one Chinese book review. But Berries covered most of what you mentioned. Your son is in a good kindy. Or has that become the norm?

My girl is in P1 now.

Last year, her kindergarten also covered more or less the same syllabus... I am glad that the kindergarten covered these because in P1, she's not so lost...

          mummy of 2:
DS also likes Chinese as we speak mainly mandarin at home. There's an article in straits times today on how teachers will assess the kids by listening to their conversation as part of the new curriculum. Looks like spoken language will be given higher weightage. But still think it's impt to read and recognize the characters. Have to start coaching DS on han yu pin yin as his school doesn't teach it at all.

Yes P1's first semester is nothing but HYPY!! The kids are drilled HYPY and I think if there's no some basic understanding, it is going to be really tough...

My daughter dislikes Chinese...that was one of the reasons why hubby didn't want her to be in same school as son...which is a SAP school.
A letter from her school today informed parents that P2s will be offered Higher Chinese based on overall results as well as attitude. I would be more than relieved if her Chinese improves...forget about any Higher Chinese for her. I will suffer more than her 😢
