The workshop should be for non TAS parents too. It is part of their community service programmes that they hold in a church. It is for Children's day and the children will have some fun activities and a photo journal competition, I think there is some science concept learning as well. There are christian bible teaching though as they do the educational events free for the church. If you do not mind, then it is great fun and learning for the kids. I brought my kids for their last children's day event and there was also a workshop for parents and the kids had a writing contest.
hi coolit, thanks for the info! my DS2 is currently with TLL (P3) but i have been thinking of transferring him to TAS next year, after reading the good reviews in this forum.
may i ask where did you get the info for this workshop? i tried browsing TAS website but couldn't seem to find any info on it. Thanks in advance! -
Hi firefly 38, my child also in TTL P3 this year. Hearing of so many good reviews so tempted to consider TAS. But can anyone advise which branch is better?

hi CHC123, if we do sign up with TAS, it will be with AMK Branch as it is nearer to my house. your child is DS or DD? mine is DS and he is attending TLL on sat afternoons. maybe my DS and your DS/DD are classmates!
btw, any reason(s) why you are considering a change? for me, its the costs, distance and DS' progress, which is not much at this moment (but to be fair to TLL, my DS only joined in june this year). -
Hi CHC123,
Impt thing is what location suits you - too far/too near. If all are good, then I would think that AMK is the better choice since it’s their ‘HQ’. Singpost, they just rent rooms from another school and Bt Timah side the traffic is a bit busy.
Next on the impt list would be the teachers who are taking the classes for that level. It’ll be best to gauge after the trial lesson if your child likes the teacher.
FYI, whilst recommendations are generally positive, I do know of pp who pull their kids out. So consider carefully if your child is benefitting from their current courses. -
For any tuition centre, I think 1 term is too short to see improvement. For my kids at TAS, after about 2 terms, I could see some slight improvement but a longer time, the improvement was much greater.
Like hquek says, need to go for trial and seeif your child can fit the teacher and class. I feel for the good centres like TLL, TAS, there will be many people who benefit but there also will be some who do not find it beneficial. Best to consider carefully.
But having said that, for me, TAS works and I like their way of teaching and they have all these fun events like childrens day, easter day events and even creative writing camps that my kids love. After a while, I feel like it is a big family feeling with the teachers and some of the closer parents. The TAS staff are very warm and friendly so you feel welcomed and happy when you go there. -

My kids are at TAS and they gave out a letter and a flyer to let us know about
the children's day event and about a creative writing camp that is coming up.
I went to check their website just now and found a link on their community service events:

Thanks coolit for the link. I went in to see. It looks interesting, do you know where it is held and the timing?
-
Hi,
I believed that the link has indicated it will hold in Singapore post and there are 2 timing. 11am to 1.30 pm and 3.30pm to 6.00 pm. -

Dear firefly38 and CHC123, my DS (P3 weekday class) joined TLL since Jan this yr and TAS creative writing class at Bt Timah (pure writing only) since July. I didn't sign him up for the full TAS Eng course bcos he is already with TLL. He had attended a TAS trial class so I could see the diff betw TLL and TAS. I think TLL is good for stretching students who are already quite good with the language whereas TAS is more adapted to MOE syllabus. So far, I find TAS' compo class good though I have not seen improvement in the sch compo marks yetCHC123:
