All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

Rio:
Can i check what is the area that you are helping the school?Hi reneebh,
I was finally confirmed as a parent volunteer, but it was after spending considerable amt of time preparing work according to the various teachers' need.
When I first wrote in, I go beyond just filling in the template. It was a very detailed resume of what I can do for the school. My area of contribution is very specialize, time consuming and very project based. Luckily, it is also very much related to my work. Fr the time I met the teachers till I was finally accepted recently, I guess i would have put in more than 40 hrs. Even then, I dun think I even know how to fill in the time slot, cos my work can only be done outside, and not within the school compound. In the end, the teachers also admit that my work is more quality than quantity based.
My suggestion would be to put in your very special area of contribution. Go beyond the normal activities such as monitor traffic, learning support, library support etc. They do not need that.
I hope the above helps. -

Anyone knows when is the deadline for NCPS PV application?
Roughly when would we get notified on successful/unsuccessful?
Any experienced PV can share experience? Thanks so much! -

Anyone had the experience of St Hilda’s Primary PV ? I just see for child born in 2006 & 2007 PV application had closed on Jun/2011.
Dose that mean I can apply for my child born 2009 now?
They have some program such as math or mandarin. Besides these, any other choices for parents (traffic/library support…) ? -
St. Hilda’s PV do English reading to kids too. Previously, they did take in PV who live >2km during selection. However, you will need to shift subsequently to be near to school.
Parents who are staying not too far from Pei Hwa Presbyterian, e.g. Bukit Panjang, may want to try PV there. Understand they take in quite a no. of PV living >2km, priorities not those within 1km. Maybe want some balance and equality in students’ background. Thus, there is still a balloting chance if you stay >2km. -

How to apply for PV?
Back then, I emailed to the school. Now I'm not sure if parents (either one) has to fill up a form. However, you can call up the school to ask.
