Ear Wax

that's accumulated during his 9-mth in the womb...kinda dark brown. Think there's a name for that stuff. for some, it will come out automatically, while others may need the flushing.thanks both.
for ears, I dare not do it on own coz worry about infection if not done properly.
when he did his first flushing when he was young, i saw the amount of 'clog' inside that was so scary and that further makes me having no confidence to clean it as well... -
Hi insider,
My DS had both his ears "flushed" the first time a few months back (heβs 4 yos). Initially we went to another doc and she gave him Tropex but after the first lump came out, it did not work for the rest.
We did not know how much was stuck in there till we went to our regular GP. After the wash, he was so happy, plus his behaviour also changed for the better in school. The amount of wax must have blocked his hearing too much that he could not understand what was being taught or he was using too much energy to listen to what the teachers were teaching that he became irritated after some time.
Our GP is in Chinatown pt, if you still need the infor, I can PM you. -

ya, I think for him, his hearing could have been blocked for some time. We only managed to find out when he had fever and the doc checked his ear for infection. I felt so guilty thinking of the times I scolded him becos he did not listen. When in fact he could not have heard our instructions clearly.

Yes, my elder son also showed marked behavioural change after his first ear flush when he was young (no longer \"huh?\"\" so often, speaks softer, more confident when answering, etc). I don't know how he actually felt but probably the effect will be similar to we have the 'clear' hearing feeling after we 'unblocked' our ear when water got into it...(and it must be very uncomfortable if the blocked feeling were to stay there for days and weeks and months and a child can't really verbalise.)
The P also felt that he probably was acting up becos of the blocked hearing.
Initially I was going to send him for testing becos his speech was a bit slow and prounciation was not accurate. But the spcialist that I spoke to and teachers asked me to wait, since at that time he was 3yos and becos he's a boy, they felt that I should not compare his progress with my DD1. In a way, lucky he had the fever or else he would be \"wronged\" for a longer period of time. Now he even started to read, earlier than his sis hahaha -

Hi insider, i recommend you bring your son to an ENT specialist. The have ear wax cleaning service using a very thin tube instrument suck out the ear wax. I just did it last week. He recommend do ear wax cleaning once a year or once every two ears. The process is less than 10 mins and painless.

really appreciate that. Will get him to go this weekend.
Thank you Auntie SAHM_TAN! (on behalf of my son)
You're all welcome
The clinic is closed on Sun and Sat half-day -
Mine at Mt E. consulation $100, ear wax cleaning service $50. Ear hearing test if required, is $50. No medication. I did mine because my left ear was blocked with the pressure feeling. It just happened when i woke up ine morning. Then follow by flu. However when the flu recovered, the pressure and blockage still there, i cannot hear well and keep having a humming sound. In the end, after suck out the wax, everything is back to normal.

Yes very true. I'm still learning this lesson. Sometimes I have the presence of mind to stop and check, but sometimes I'm so rush to get things done or too tired, I forget the experiences that taught me those lessons.
Yes, it is so important for parents to consider their child's issue from a physical point of view and try to rectify the issue before 'scolding' coz many times, kids just can't verbalise and so many of them may be suffering in silence and get scolded for nothing. -
I would think $150 for both ears wax cleaning is reasonable. I never clean my ear wax with the stick thing myself because i am too scared to do it. The last time i did the ear wax cleaning was in 2008 by this ENT specialist too. That time was see him for my throat, ι‘ΊδΎΏ clean clean ear wax.
