How about doing Suzuki piano? It emphasizes lots on hearing too.

We are doing Suzuki violin as well. Not sure about Suzuki piano, so can't comment on its syllabus. Overall, JMC and JXC train a lot on hearing and harmonising. Another school that seems close to what Yamaha is teaching is probably MYC (Music for Young Children). Maybe because violin and piano are very different, I don't see the training as similar (e.g. there is definitely no harmonising for violin). -

For Suzuki, it's in the philosophy, I guess. Listen and listen, then play. , perform. My older ones all learnt music the more traditional way.. But all started late in primary school.phankao:

Our 3yo is doing both Suzuki piano and violin. Useful and effective for the very young. -

Hi, my daughter now in second year JMC, and I am not sure after 2-year JMC, she is better to continue to JXC , or i transfer her to yamaha CPC (classical piano course)? I have little music knowledge and cannot advice her more.

Can do a CPC trial for a month to see if she’s ready? It boils down to her maturity. Some children hate one-to-one lessons.

Yes, listening is a skill they are expected to know and will be tested at the end of JMC. The music teacher will practise with the kids often at a later stage of JMC ... usually asking all the kids to face the parents (so they can't see what notes she plays) then ask the kids what notes she just played (e.g., do mi so, ti fa so, do mi so). As they progress, she will test them in class individually. -

You can look forward to many more catchy songs over the 2 year course, enjoy!

You can try to practise with her at home. Start with do mo so and ti fa so. She should be able to catch it in class after this.
