tuition are for those who need extra help in what’s being taught in school

enrichment goes beyond what’s being taught in school

IMO, they are different. Some centres operate in the boundary, offering both tuition and encrichment classes, or even tuition with some enrichment.

          tragicurlyhip:
Hi anyone knows which are the tuition centres with very difficult entry tests your child has to sit before he can enter, and/or those which require very high grades before he can register?

          Thanks!

tuition centres like that are not serving its purpose to help students who are having difficulties! whats the point seriously?? whats the point of paying?

should get those centres ttt focus on personal development too coz i know weaker students also get missed out in normal tuition centres coz the class size is too big...

            happy to be mum:
can't stand those tuition centers who need entry test! come on man...tuition is to help weaker students right??

            Couldn't agree with you more.
Personally, I wouldn't feel any achievement if my tutees start with A2 and end up with A1.
All my students started tuition with Fail/ Ungraded (some with single-digit marks for SA), or thereabouts and ended up with all As for N lvl, or A1, A2 or B3 for O lvl. And I feel so happy for them. :rahrah:

True tuition is suppose to help students. Apparently some tuition centres only take in the good students.

I know of a good tutor personally, who assess the child before taking them in for classes. Not to reject them but know more about them, to customerise their classes for them.

Do PM me if you would like her contact!

                Agree with fruitypie.

My kids’ tuition centre do not ask them to do very difficult sums when they know my kids have problem with difficult sums alrdy, instead the teacher in charge assess them based on their most recent school results and then get to know them after the first lesson to see if they can grasp information fast or are slightly slower and need more explanation.

They explained to me before that in this way, its a more accurate method to assess the kids then to use papers when the kid is already having problem with the particular subject that they want to have tuition for.
