PV is only for P1. lizhi's dd is in P4. New transferee for GEP. Probably the teachers were expecting P4 to be able to take care of themselves. They forget that it can be quite daunting to suddenly be plunged into a school that is new & bigger than what she may have been previously used to. FT should have assisted a bit more.

I still confused that they have been informed to assemble at basketball court but there no ppl...
Till after 7:00am, she has to find her classroom herself.

Normally, assembly on Monday/special days is at basketball court. If they suspect it may rain, they will cancel. If by 6:45am you don't see anyone on the court, go to meeting point/classroom. That's what I understand from DS1.

I understand that assembly at the basketball court was called off becoz they thot there was a possibility of rain. My child was also told to assemble there. \"lucky\" due to the jam into school, we saw it was empty and I told her to go to the hall instead. Sigh, they should have planned it better for the newcomers to the school.

Lizhi, my dd and I are both shocked to hear what happened to your gal. I hope she was not too tired after the long journey home. I am appalled, I think the bus drivers should have checked that they had the right kids before driving off, especially on the first day of school. My dd takes the same bus to and fro but I do hope the bus driver and assistant are alert.

My p5 dd also got caught in the same situation as your dd although she is not new. She din know what class she has been assigned to and was instructed to assemble at the basketball court. But maybe due to assumption that it is going to rain, the assembly is cancelled hence she had to go round asking various teachers. One of her P4 teacher even told her the wrong campus. By the grace of God, she managed to find the right class at level 4 after one attempt. And my dd's complain that it din even rain.
I must admit that this year, the instructions for certain students are not well organised especially for the new transfer students as well as Gep 5 students. Last year, it was better organised as the assembly is not cancelled.
Hi Lizhi, glad that yr dd reached home safely. Last year, one of my friend's ds missed the school bus on the 1st day. On the 2nd day, seeing that he was searching panicky for the school bus, I quickly asked him to call the driver using my handphone. It can be stressful for kids to miss their school bus.
Yah... 1st step of independence :faint: in a new school.

Glad your gal made it home safely! I m more worried tat ds will miss his bus since he had never taken sch bus before.. I had instructed ds in case of missing his bus home, where is nearest bus stop n wat bus to take. Ds said his bus aunty did check the name list before they leave sch..the bus driver mus be careful especially first few wks of sch.. I still considering to let him bring phone to sch.. Scared he play games till forgot to get off the bus! Today already forgot the eat his snack I packed n bring stuff home! :faint:

Thank you for your concern. Yes, I agee that the school bus drivers should check that the right pupils boarded the bus.

This school really tests our independence?

Haha your ds is so cut, he even forgot his snack. really he like playing games that much?

Anyway, my dd is very excited about the following activities on the next few days. Though she boarded the wrong bus and lost her way to her classroom, she’s still happy and excited about the Amazing Race on Wednesday, the small class party on Thursday and the Forest Adventure on Friday. Quite a lot of activities, and not one week has passed!

I'll second that. First day of school and DS says he's enjoying it. Came back home to learn about the Amazing Race, the Forest Adventure and the \"small class party?\". Geez, if I'm still in school, I will be enjoying it too!

                        Hi Stinkybomb,

                        Welcome to Nanyang family!

Traffic is normally this way for first couple of days & when it rains (other times). Once the kids (and parents) settle down to a routine, the traffic should be better. I normally leave my house in Bishan at 6:30. Reach around 6:45 +/-. If I leave around 6:45, end up at school around 7:10/7:15!! and a panicky kid in the back seat (worried that he is late) :faint:

                        Thanks Mickeyhmh,

I will try to leave at 6.30 tomorrow n hope traffic is better 🙏

Instead of just 1 panicky kid...there will be another super panicky mum who will freak out too for being late for work after dropping Ds.. 😓
