oh dear, this viral infection once contracted stays with you for life. Though, it’s documented that the outbreak has proven to be less frequent and severe, as time goes by.

I have not heard of citrus fruit or darlie toothpaste causing the outbreak. But doctors have told me that it flares when immune system is down i.e. under stress, overly tired, cold weather which compromises immune system.

You have to teach him to identify the early symptoms. The cream recommended by the doctor is very effective if applied during early stages of the outbreak. 1 golden rule is not to touch/scratch, as the spread grows once you do that.

Todate, I have not known of any cure for it, unfortunately.

Cold sores r a form of herpes simplex. There r no way of getting rid of it. U will also find that the cold sore would always occur at the same spot. I used to get it once a yr while I was living in Australia, during winter time. I don't get it often now that I m in sg, so u can still get it even in hot n humid weather.

I have learn to tell the signs that a cold sore is coming up (it feels hot, a bit itchy, and kinda unpleasant) and I would immediately pile on lip balm for the next few days. After that, the cold sore would disappear and it would not form blisters. Can get your son to try πŸ™‚

Welll... I am a one who will contract cold sores when I am stress. So far I have not come across children having it. Recently a colleague of mine shared that by having vitamin B complex will actually curb this problem.

I went to GNC and ask if there is anything for cold sores and true enough I was recommended vitamin B complex. I search in the internet for information and true enough there is some write up that deficiency can lead to developing stress , anxiousness (which I guess your child is having during the exam period)

I am taking the supplement and shall see if it works πŸ˜„

Some said that cold sores are caused by long exposure to sun or dry lips. I used to have it frequently but then when I started to use a lip moisturiser with SPF, the attacks became less frequent.
