Good choice, I had it for 2 reunion dinners before at changi airport t3. I think by now they should be almost, if not full already as I had to book more than 1 month in advance previously. -

People should be free to do what they want, and not be bound by tradition, they should enjoy tradition instead. I grew up in a family where my grandparents placed lots of emphasis on tradition, at the expense of my parents' marriage. -
personally, I prefer to follow some traditions. It is part of what I am and I would like my child to grow up knowing & following them as well.
Following tradition doesn’t mean we can’t be flexible and reach compromises. -
It’s always steam boat for us but fil uses his chopsticks to pick food from the pot directly. Told him umpteen times to use the net but he’s not listening. Now, using the kids as an excuse, I will pick the raw ingredients and cook them over the stove but eat at the same table.

Haiz , haiz , i have similar kind of problem. End up i normally just quickly eat a bit before the whole pot is touched too much and stop. -
just wondering wouldn’t boiling water in the steam boat be hot enough to kill off any gems?

My BIL and our side can’t agree on the date for the dinner! We had an agreed date which was proposed by them, and we had to move stuff around for it. Now they’re asking to change. But we can’t coz everything has been rearranged and settled. My poor MIL is caught in the middle.
Anyway, we usually have it at my il laws home, with steam boat a few days to a week before CNY, followed by steamboat/Korean BBQ at my parents on the eve. DH wishes he could have dinner with his parents on the eve, but BIL doesn’t want to coz he has reunion dinner with his wife’s family that day, and he doesn’t want two dinners in one night. So every year we need to find a good date for dinner.
I enjoy the steamboat, but I don’t enjoy the politics…
