Hi,
I would like to ask if anyone who’s child having aural mental 4D4N finds the speed too fast and almost impossible to do the sums accurately? My son who is in P1, is currently at this stage (4D4N). When I heard how fast the man read out the numbers, I was like "how to do"? I wonder does it mean my son just need extra extra practice then it’s possible to get it or there’s a way to overcome this? Appreciate if any mommies whose child in CMA to share your experience on this…
Further, I would also like to hear from mommies when do you think it’s time or by which level should we stop? I understand this is also depending on child’s interest, time constraint etc. My son has been with cma for 2 years, currently at grade 4 for mental and grade 6 (going 5) for abacus. To continue going for another grade may take MONTHS so i am seriously thinking whether to just stop here or continue for another few months? Maybe mommies can share on this too… -
How long can we see our child dd mental calculation?
My son has been with the program for 1 yr plus but i dont see him applying the concept when dd maths question.
Also i find that just the addition part there are too many formulas for him to remember and sometimes both of us are confused which to use…
Thinking of stopping… -
I quit also because of the formulas involved which i can’t remember myself. Especially brothers, neighbors rules etc. Mind blogging and frustrating. Anyway, my kids are older now and I feel whether abacus training do not help. There are so much things to learn in maths. Anyway, this system is fairly new in Singapore , wonder if it is proven.

Hello,
I am thinking of enrolling my girl (k1 this year) in CMA. But may I ask if it is easy for them to pick up … Right now my dd knows her numbers (probably confidently up to 20), the concept of addition, (we have not started her on subtraction) ==do u think she is ready for CMA?
There seems to be alot of formulas to memorise, is it difficult? Do you as parents sit down with your child to learn abacus together? i visited one CMA branch while waiting to be attended to the staff was teaching the Mum how to do some abacus qns?
do u start your child with 2x a week or is it ok to just begin with 1x a week?
The fees now is 200 for 2x a week Does that mean 10 lessons is $200–5 weeks?
Between CMA and Kumon which is better? I know they r quite different, but Kumon i heard can be quite repetitive?
